A football-weekend full of tension

Refereeing his first derby on Saturday, being a good referee in every position: Florian Meyer

After several weeks of matches which were more likely "calm", not to mention "boring", this matchday weekend is a cluster of international top clashes where the involved teams can win much, but lose even more. A lot of tradition is ensured in several showpieces and derbies in Germany and Spain, as we may observe the traditional Rhein-derby between FC Köln and Borussia M'gladbach, the Ruhr Area derby between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 and finally the Madrid derby between Real and Atlético. Furthermore, the two best Italian teams will meet in Serie A.

7 Comments:

  1. In Italy very often the best assistant referees for important matches aren't international.
Fo example Giordano, Ghiandai, Romagnoli, Niccolai.
That's strange, the FIFA assistants have often problems. For example, last week Nicoletti (as I already wrote in the other post) and Di Fiore did very big mistakes.
Cariolato (Niclas, I remember you asked about him) finally returned on the pitch yesterday, in the Coppa Italia Fourth Stage Match Fiorentina-Empoli...

  2. Ah ok, good to hear that. Probably only an injury and not a suspension due to this one error.

    Porto-Braga (reedition of EL final)
Artur Soares Dias, Rui Licínio (internation for 2012), João Silva

  7. Pfui, one sided derby, Meyer made Dortmund the gift of the 1-0, but nonetheless, they would have won. Terrible match by my team.
