  1. I wonder if Skomina would also have been appointed for the Arsenal-Milan match, had the tie not already been decided in the first leg...

He would, all CL appointments were made a month ago, so it means Skomina was appointed for this match before first leg was played, so I'm sure he would be appointed.

  7. Very important matches for Skomina and Moen, with Vassaras and Karlsson as observers. Maybe they will have a easy job in both matches, since the first legs scoers, anyway their appointments are really considerable, especially Skomina. After Manchester United - Ajax, Arsenal - Milan.
Furthermore, with the appointment of Svein Oddvar Moen, now we have all elite referees appointed at least for a match, except Benquerenca, which is injuried.
Today we will see if Orsato, Graefe, Stavrev will be appointed in Europa League...

  10. I do belive that Aydinus should get a r16 match, he was just great at Galatasaray-Besiktas last week. Superb foul detection, great communication with players, and totally correct cards, for me an 8,9. That should have taken the attention of commitee. Grafe's appoitment may say sth positive for this case. UEFA should encourage his referees without applying sanction IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I agree, Cagatay.
The same speech about Borski, Orsato, Stavrev and Nijhuis, if I'm not wrong they are (with Aydinus, exactly) the last referees without any appointment in EL or CL until now.
I'm quite suire that they will get a return match next week.

About Champions League appointments on the next week: following the UEFA pattern to appoint in EL and CL a Elite referee (for example Thomson, Eriksson, Undiano Mallenco, Skomina, Cakir and so on) the names for the four matches should be:
    Brych (confirmed by Niclas)
    Stark
    Proenca (confirmed)
    Lannoy
    Blom (!)

    Matches are:

    Internazionale - Marseille
    Bayern - Basel
    Chelsea - Napoli
    Real Madrid - CSKA M.

If I had to appoint Blom in one of these matches, I would choose him for Bayern - Basel or Inter - Marseille.

    What do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  12. There is also Atkinson, and Rocchi (witohout regarding appiotment pattern). I thought at first Rocchi would undoubtfully get a CL r16. He had deserved more than Moen did for this year's performance, IMO. Blom was good at EL, and he'll continue in that direction, maybe a EL r16.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Rocchi mmhh the only match suitable for Rocchi would be Real - CSKA because in the other three matches there are two italian teams and Bayern-Basel, match of which Rizzoli (with Rocchi additional) had the first leg.

  14. My bets:
    BAYERN-BASEL: Proenca
    INTER-MARSEILLE: Brych
    REAL-CSKA: Clattenburg or Atkinson
    CHELSEA-NAPOLI: Lannoy

According to a German football site, only one GER team is in CL 13/14 March

Good EL appts, observer plan to be published.

  16. I watched Skomina full. Let me honest say that, his style totally worked for Arsenal. He was too far away from positions. Again, and again not whistling small ones. But, then I realized that he wasnt whistling the big fouls either. The game seems to be very enthusiastic, enjoyable with the huge impact of referee. He had it like a premier league staff....Penalty was undoubtful, but he has also hesitated whether to whistle or not.
A tough game with huge physical contacts with totally correct cards where more needed. By the way, added 3 mins, finished at 92:15. Too much things to say...

    1. Now that you tell that Skomina had also troubles with added time in Ajax vs MU, I did not see him today, but in Amsterdam he only gave 2 minutes when there had to be at least 3 or 4.

By the way Webb, hmm, maybe he missed a socnd yellowcard to Zenit, the rest, the same Webb of always, report aviable on Ref Marks.

Something else, Im able to put all the reports you want on the same match on refmarks, you know its only a matter of sending a mail...

      Regards

    2. As written by Carlos, this is the Skomina style, about added time.
Not only in Ajax - Manchester U. but also in Napoli - Manchester City (Game which I saw) he gave just 3 minutes at the end, and then he whistled even before that, when it was about 92' 50''. I don't know why he is always in a hurry to whistle the end of his match. I think Collina, or somebody else should talk to him about this problem. Giving always 3 minutes and never anything more, you are just able to recover the lost time for the substitutions. Arsenal and Wenger were very angry at the end, and I think they were right.
Overall, it was a very good first half. Some problems for Skomina came just in the last 20 minutes of the second. The biggest mistake was the missed corner to Milan, and the consequence to show a card to Nocerino for complaints.
But what about other situations? I think most of the cards were correct. Penalty situation correct too, and let me say that we can't discuss so much about the circumstances (Skomina hesitating) that led to the penalty. The only important thing is that the penalty was given. Maybe Skomina was already sure in his mind, but he waited for the AAR1 confirmation.
All offside calls were correct, assistants had a good game, except the aforementioned missed corner.
Yes minor mistakes, some clear fouls were not whistled, but I think we can't always look at the excellence.
      So:

Control 7 missing something in the last minutes
Calls: 7 ok on offsides and penalty situation, most of cards correct, minor mistakes, wrong added time in second half and a missed corner to Milan
Neutrality: 7 I didn't see a "working for Arsenal style" reported by Cagatay , instead, with the added time at the end he was a bit in favor of Milan...
Style: 6 He was too pedantic with the whistle sometimes

      Delete
    3. "Skomina's style has worked for Arsenal", No doubt in my mind. It doesnt mean that he was not neutral. He was %100. But, his ignorance of foul has increased the pace of the game which Arsenal has fully needed. High pace resulted in more pressure by Arsenal with the help of fans. Milan started to make mistakes, lost in physical contacts etc.

      Delete
    4. Skomina had a good style for 55 minutes and became then pedantic and fussy. He has to be more consistent IMO.

  18. Sky Germany showed that it was 3:01 when the final whistle was made.
Must be a TV mistake, not his fault.

Skomina's performance is to my mind satisfying. In the 2nd half of the 2nd half, there was a visible lack of concentration, strange decisions (e.g. no corner kick for Milan), the 4th yellow was wrong (to Song).
First half good, assistant referees as well, Arhar with one mistake, Stancin without any mistake, even though the van Persie chance to score the 4-0 was very close..
Penalty correct, no complaint about the time he needed, perhaps some communication with AAR1, there is the next problem. Jug was AAR1, but it was Vancic who stood at the right side from the TV camera. Vincic made the penalty call. Strange.

    My marks:

    Control (25%): 75
Calls (30%): many smaller mistakes, the first yellows were justified and good. With 2 exceptions a good advantage rule applying, but he forgot to book a Milan player afterwards. Problems with foul detection. = 50
    Style (25%): 80
    Neutrality (10%): 80
    Difficulty (10%): 60

I have Observed Skomina in 2nd leg between Manu Vs Ajax in Old Trafford " Report is available in REFMARKS " and he was totally out of this style, I’m surprising after only one week from this appointment again he got Arsenal –Milan. Also I don’t think his appointing him in Euro 2012 was right decision. German referee Felix Brych is more reliable than him!!!!!!

    2. Perhaps you are right, but Skomina has advantages, too.
I am glad we have soon a bigger EURO which allows UEFA to send more guys to France in 2016 (at least 16 I think)

  20. I have sent my report about Moen to RefMarks.
Easy work, too easy. Almost no measure.
As always happens, the only people with heavy work at Camp Nou, are only the assistants.

  21. Cann had only one CL match if I am not wrong.
    Child deserves it.

Moen showed some weaknesses in an extremely easy match, no comment on the result..

    ReplyDelete
  22. My Marks for Moen:

    Control (25%): 80
Calls (30%): 70: should have booked Reinartz, many problems with keeping the wall at 9:15, sometimes Barca's wall was 6 or 7 metres away. Smaller mistakes.
Style (25%): strange whistle, clear and respectful gestures, great fitness: 80
Neutrality (10%): sometimes a bit pro Barca (see above, wall, some other situations in the early stages of the match): 70
    Difficulty (10%): 40

      Delete
  24. Yeah, it's true, but I don't think the last Al Ahli vs fourth Al Jaish is an important match ;). But foreign referees often whistle in AFC Leagues (especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia). In this season in Qatar were Gumienny, Orsato, Vad, Kassai, Bognar, etc. And in Saudi Arabia were Shukralla, Balaj, Tudor, Rizzoli, Spathas, Sidiropoulos etc. So it's very common. Maybe on Satturday and Sunday will be next foreign referees.
