30 Comments:

  1. Matteo Russo is a former Italian referee from Milan, in his career he was able to reach Serie C (the third category after serie A and B) but nothing more.
It's always ineresting to know the liaison officer.

A further info about Italy: today Gianluca Rocchi has been appointed for Sampdoria-Cagliari on sunday, so they will go on to use him, at least until the sentence. Of course, not in top clashes...

  2. Thomas said it in another place, you are innocent until the opposite is definitely proven, the same counts for Brych who is still charged for having allegedly dodged taxes. I would have been surprised if they had completely ignored him from now on.

  4. I have to say it is a pleasure to watch the Russian team in Maribor-Tottenham. Without a single mistake worth mentioning. Karasev's foul detection on the wet pitch is brilliant so far (55th minute).

    ReplyDelete
  5. There is a doubtful situation at Maribor - Tottenham (min. 73'). Karasev decided YC to Naughton after a fall inside Maribor penalty area. The sure thing is that there is a contact with the defender.

    1. It is doubtful, ought to see it again. One wrong offside call by AR2. Generally a good performance, promising future ahead for Karasev.

  6. Levante - FC Twente, referee Bezborodov (Rus).
Missed two clear red cards, he gave in both situations only a yellow card. One in first half (Levante) and in last minutes of the game (FC Twente).
Penalty after unintentional handball, hence a wrong penalty call.
    Bad performance of Bezborodov.

    1. I totally agree! The violent attack from behind on Tadic in the 1st half was an obvious red card, and for the frustration tackle from Bengtsson, jumping with 2 legs forward, only a sending off was the appropriate sanction. I also judged the handball from Douglas as unintentional, but what about the third Levante-goal? Doesn't he control the ball with the arm there?? Overall at least 3 big and match-influencing mistakes. A very poor performance of the Russian referee, and a mark well below 7.4?

      Delete
  7. It's probably the end of Bezborodov's hopes for an Elite Category. Probably UEFA tried to challenge him in this big match but he has failed.

    BAS NIJHUIS - 8.3
Very poor match from both teams but not from the referee. Three correct non-penalty calls (25', 35', 75'), four correct yellow cards. Some minor mistakes including tolerating Skrtlel's very bad behaviour. Czech kicked Smolov in back through the air-duel (9' - missed foul and at least yellow card) and then he used his arm again in air-duel and again with Smolov (56' - free kick, no card). Obviously he can be happy not finishing his match earlier... Mark between 8.2 and 8.3 but perfect positioning and fitness (really fast running!) and three correctly rejected penalty-appeals say it's 8.3. Good but not excellent performance, he's ready for next EL match.

  11. Göçek in Dnipro-Napoli

First half: goal for Napoli correctly disallowed by second assistant, not difficult decision. In the last minutes, at first (40') a bad foul by Donadel (Napol) was punished with a yellow card, but it could have been also red for a harsh referee. Then (45'+2) a reaction (head-butt) by Fernandez (Napoli player) against the opponent, might have been straight red card. My feeling is that he missed the situation and he asked to the fourth official, which was nearby. The final decision was a yellow card. The head-butt was anyway not totally given, a classic bordeline stuation in which the player stops himself when he understands that he is going to hurt the opponent. Nevertheless, the red might have been appropriate. After these situations, some problems on the control of the match.

Second half: 73' penalty whistled to Napoli, and yellow card to the defender. Correct decision, Cavani was near the goal but having lost the ball possession, therefore no DOGSO. Excellent reading of the situation, that was crucial. 85' Eysoy mistake, a wrong flag for offside to Pandev (it wasn't).

Overall, some missed situations and probably too much lenient. Basically, an acceptable performance but with very important areas for improvement.

  12. Liany: here I haven't watche the whole match, but I can inform you about several things.
The most crucial call of the whole match happened in first half, when at first Liany awarded a penalty to Partizan for a clear foul, giving also the yellow card.
Then later he was helped by second assistant, Biton, the call was corrected in a free kick. It's difficult to understand if the foul happened inside or outside the area. For sure, the contact begins out of the area, but it's difficicult to say when it exactly takes form. For the rest, it seems that he missed several cards, too, a lenient style as often we see from many referees in the last times, anyway no crucial mistakes.

  13. I can't say so much about the other matches of Italian teams, just a thing: penalty awarded by Turpin in favor of Young Boys was correct.

And... in Panathinaikos-Lazio the best own goal ever :D

    1. Maybe Svein Erik Edvartsen back at the Fifa list? He gets many top clashes in Norway! up and coming Anders Johansen also a good choice! Any other views?

    2. I agree, I would also predict Edvartsen, and as assistant Jan Erik Engan.

    3. Engan is already an assistant fifa referee!

  15. Serge Gumienny with a very very lenient line. Missed one mandatory booking, awarded a correct penalty for handball though. Missed a foul prior to Gladbach's 2-0, but corresponded to his leniency. Overall a still good performance (8.2 or 8.3).

    1. I agree with given penalty, however I dont think that was a foul prior to second Gladbach goal.
Do you think disallowed goal for offside is a good flag? I have just seen one replay and player didnt seem as totally active to me.

    2. Was correct, replays from behind the goal (obviously German TV then offered more than one replay) showed that he touched the ball with a header, so definitely a correct call.

  16. News of Emir Alečković?
The final score of the game was totally unexpected, and probably a surprise also for UEFA.
It was important for the group, becaue after this draw everything for the second place is still open... I talk as Napoli fan :)

  17. No, I did not see him.

But I checked the sending-off issued by Marciniak, was a totally correct decision (tactical foul by pulling).

  18. Soares Dias by the way missed a penalty to Stuttgart (48'), Stuttgart's coach later called the AARs "micky mouses".

    1. You are right, even if it was offside before never signalled by the AR.And check also another situation in 30' minute, and tell me your opinion

  20. Terrible mistakes by Soares Dias. Must be penalty in 30', clear penalty in 48' which should not have been possible as you said due to offside. Weak weak.

    1. Of course there is offside at 48' but the penalty is something completely different. Terrible mistakes by Soares Dias. Maybe now promotion will be impossible.
