One of many good reasons to become a referee

Despite all those challenges you encounter as a referee on the pitch, that is connected with a high level of responsibility and formation of your character, a further significant reason to become a referee certainly is that you are an immediate part of the game, which allows you to follow goals like that closer than everybody else out there, a goal of which you dream in your smartest dreams and that should be honoured with kind of award like "Best Goal of the Century" if you ask me.
I am envious of Frank Andas and Svein Oddvar Moen, the assistant referee and referee in the match between Sweden and England.

  1. Tom Hagen is a better referee, IMO!

  2. Moen was anyway inflexible in applying the rules: he gave a YC to Ibrahimovic, after this goal, for having took off his shirt. I didn't know that, I read it this morning on the newspaper.
The hard life of a referee, even in front of such goals.

  3. How many days of ban for a "foul" like this?

    I'm speechless....

    1. I think even one year ban is real here...

    2. Nice kick, but the wrong kind of sports. They should introduce something like "10 matches ban + 20 matches probation", but that would be too less.

    3. Awful... Large Ban certainly. No suspension is enough that does not belong in the game whatsoever.

10 match bans are not unheard of though. Brian Mullen got a 10 match ban last season for this horrific tackle breaking Steve Zakuani's leg.

  4. 143. " El clasico of Serbian football " Crvena Zvezda-Partizan- referee: Milorad Mažić, AR: Milovan Ristić, Igor Radojčić, 4th: Milenko Vukadinović.
After a few mistakes referees ( referee Dimitrijević ) at the expense of Crvena Zvezda raise a lot of tension. He returned to the legendary president Mr. Dragan Džajić, but after a good job in Bulgaria for a proven team should not be a problem. Also, Mr. Mažić nominated- MD6 CL!

  6. The huge clash in Polish Ekstraklasa: Lech - Legia with additional assistants (Raczkowski and Marciniak)!!! And probably all matches from 2013 with additional assistants in Ekstraklasa.

  7. DFL and DFB have decided to not introduce GLT or AARs. The reason? They are unable to decide in favour of the one or the other as FIFA and UEFA are in a dispute concerning that topic..
Just for your info: we had four situations in this season's first 11 matchdays in Bundesliga where the question was goal yes or no, three times the assistants detected it correctly and once even the replay could not make it clear (Augsburg-Leverkusen AR2 Thomas Gorniak (the situation I described last), Schalke-Augsburg AR1 Harm Osmers, Leverkusen-Mainz AR1 Christian Leicher and Bremen-Gladbach AR2 Michael Emmer). All situations were very tight. So I think DFL and DFB have also good arguments to decide against GLT after these situations which are of course also perceived by German supporters.

  8. Although I won't publish this window dressing published at uefa.com, have a look at the text on the AARs-presentation at Nyon. They completely erase UKR-ENG, once again. They cannot mean those words seriously.

  10. Logical, as I said a few weeks ago, he must get CL because he is apart from some others a referee from 1st who is not old enough for a future promotion.

    1. By the way, Nikolaev 0 presence in EL group stage until now.
Another demotion (in Cat. 2) is possible, I think.
What happened between UEFA and this Russian referee, will be forever a mistery for us.

    2. My only explanation are two very weak performance of the same manner in 2010/2011. Sevilla-Dortmund and Valencia-Schalke were quite equal. Low level of control, mistakes you could not understand (wrong corners although he was 5 ms away with free view), a nearly missed red card following two yellows and so on. And then Collina came to observe him at Chelsea-Genk. I watched the match at that time, actually there was no crucial error.

  13. Fredy Fautrel, Wolfgang Stark, Carlos Del Cerro Grande, several referee busy this evening.

  14. Yes, but Stark's match was easy. Never seen such a weak Schalke this season, correct penalty, correct second yellow card, Pickel with 2 strange mistakes.
