  3. Do you think UEFA will forget about Halis Ozkahya this year?. He was good at 3rd qualifying match of young boys. And, as noted here Bulent Yildirim was not that good at Basel. Maybe a flip?

    ReplyDelete
  4. @ Jaco: Thanks for your remarks, interesting to see Gil again in EL.
@ Cagatay: I am not sure, I could imagine that he will get a match next week. As far as I remember, his EL debut last season was also ok.

  5. Also appointment for Vad

    1. really??thats good news for him.!Is it EL or CL?

      Delete
    2. Just EL, but better than nothing!

      Delete
    3. Absolutely, however there is still the question whether someone may stay in ED if he gets no CL match.

      Delete
  6. BTW which matches do you think are still intresting for qualification to next round?i think that there are not so many...What do you think Niclas?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Unfortunately you are right. On the other hand, it allows UEFA to test some 2nd group officials in bigger stadiums. Groups A, E and J are the only crucial ones, but of course there are also plenty of teams potentially combatting for the first place, to escape teams like Man City (if they manage to supersede Ajax).
I would appoint Vad for Tottenham-Panathinaikos (he was always good in very important matches).

    ReplyDelete
  8. And Group G i guess...

    ReplyDelete
  9. So it would be intresting to see the referees in those matches. We can understand a few things...

    ReplyDelete
  10. The reason why he did not get any CL game till now is very clear... In my oppinion, to demote him would be a big mistake. Demoting means maybe he never reach elite, crazy! he is promising star as a referee, just made mistake as AAR

    ReplyDelete
  11. Fenerbahçe - Borussia Monchengladbach
    Manuel De Sousa (POR)
He has Bertino Miranda as first assistant.

    ReplyDelete
  12. VfB Stuttgart - Molde FK: Kevin Blom (NED)

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh dear.

UEFA should have swift the appointments in group J.

Vad for Maribor - Lazio (no interest in this match) and

Pawel Gil for Tottenham - Panathinaikos (decider for 2nd place).

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I wonder about the future of Vad, two appointments in EL group stage, but without important observers, then what?
If they want to demote him just for that ghost goal, it's a bit unfair.

      Delete
    2. I wonder too Chefren. UEFA seems to behave like Vad is already First Category referee giving him 2 unimportant matches. As for Temmink my belief is that he is an important observer.

      Delete
    3. Yes, he is. Temmink mostly focuses on developping officials:

Temmink Rene NED CL 10/11 GS PAN-BAR Rocchi
Temmink Rene NED CL 11/12 GS ARS-OLY Velasco Carballo
Temmink Rene NED CL 11/12 GS OTE-BAS Hagen
Temmink Rene NED EL 10/11 GS LIV-STE Muniz Fernández
Temmink Rene NED EL 10/11 GS ROS-ATL Bezborodov
Temmink Rene NED EL 10/11 R16 LEV-VIL Tagliavento
Temmink Rene NED EL 11/12 GS AEK-LOK Collum
Temmink Rene NED EL 11/12 R16 HAN-STA Kralovec
Temmink Rene NED EL 11/12 SF VAL-ATL Skomina
Temmink Rene NED EL 12/13 PO CSKA-AIK Hategan
Temmink Rene NED EL 12/13 GS UDI-YOU Tohver

And it's pretty obvious, Borski had severe problems in his last three matches, his name is 99% sure for demotion. Gil is observed by a committee member for the 2nd time, so it is obvious they are going to change the Polish officials.

      Delete
    4. I agree, surely a change between Borski and Gil.
Gil is also younger, therefore it's a good choice.

I am not familiar with the differences between y and i. E.g. I always insert Sergei Karasev and Anton Averianov, instead of Sergey and Averyanov. In fact, FIFA and UEFA name them differently as well. Example: Alexey Nikolaev (FIFA) and Aleksei Nikolaev (UEFA).

    5. The best is Polish transcription :) We have the same sounds and I can and must write here Aleksiej Nikołajew and Siergiej Karasiow (Karasiow because in hand-writing there are two dots over the e in -ev). Here you can understand how does it say: Syer-gyey Ka-ra-syov and A-lek-syey Ni-ko-wa-yev :D

8 referees from category 1 haven`t whistle a groupstage match in EL or CL this year; Bruno Miquel, Cyril Zimmermann, Daniel Stalhammer, Euan Norris, Mark Courtney, Robert Malek, Sascha Kever and Said Ennjimi.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Interesting remark. While they tried to give Stalhammar and Norris a match (both had to withdraw), the others do not play any role. Another sign for Switzerland's decreasing importance with regards to refereeing in UEFA zone.
I cannot explain why Courtney did not get anything..he got three matches last season and did not seem to have produced catastrophes.

What's also interesting is that there are 22 category 2 referees who have had an groupstage match in the Europa League. Most of them had one or two matches, Liany and Madden even three ( remarkable because referees like Marriner, Probert, Balaj and Damato had only one game!

      Delete
    2. That's interesting. In previous years, it was normal, that every cat1 ref got three group stage matches. Now it seems UEFA is more focused on performance and potential.
Concerning Kever and Zimmermann, one must add that Zimmermann didn't have any group stage matches in 2011 too. At the end of the year, he will retire. But I wonder what happened with Kever. He was once in the talent and mentor group but UEFA never really considered him for promotion. So I think he will be demoted soon.

Referees from Elite, ED ans 1st category had a fitness test in september.
For example Balaj failed that test (injury) and he had to repeat the test in october (as far as I know). For this reason he had only 1 game in group stage.

Maybe some other referees failed that test, maybe some referees had injuries (keep in mind that many referess have verious problems because the effort is preety big).

Interesting comment, thanks, but I think that Bruno Miguel Duarte Paixao loose FIFA badge in september

what de you think about the bosnian referee Aleckovic??
its the second app. ine EL. for him...
    thks

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I only saw him at the mini tournament (u17 euro), he had two German matches. He made a basically good impression, could improve his foul detection. I mean, the observers he got in Euro League indicate UEFA has a high opinion of him.

      Delete
  22. Young Boys Bern's goal should have been disallowed for offside. AR1 Rojko did not raise the flag, after that consultation with Jug but score stands. Apart from that a good Slovenian team.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Niclas, I have now watched the situation, sincethere is only one video on youtube and the images are not from a good camera, can you confirm that the player which scored was in clear offside but out of the pitch?
Probably this situation made it difficult to understand for Rojko?

      Delete
  23. PSV 2-1 was offside: crucial mistake by Simon Bennett.
Apart from that, good performance by Dean in a easy match to referee.
I'm going to watch Aleckovic now.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Martin Hansson has replaced Martin Strombergsson at Partizan - Rubin Kazan.
    I am watching the match.

    1. It seems that the Strombergsson brothers are not so much interested in refereeeing.

Peric from Slovenia (that is close to Serbia) was a replacement of the last minute...

There is no penalty for FC Partizan (Markovic)?! A big mistake! Hansson was desperate. Fitness performance-disastrous. A lot of small mistakes...

    1. I have to agree. There is a penalty in the collision. Hansson was too far away and didn't had the best possible fitness. Crucial mistake.
Furthermore he should caution Sharonov (Rubin) for a foul right outside the penalty area which would result in a sending-off. So 2 big mistakes.

    2. I agree I think Hansson knows that mistake against Ireland has ruined his career ad reputation.

    3. But professional referee should try to avoid a crisis in his form and fitness. It's a bit stupid to give up after one poor performance....

    4. I mean if you work for years to be one day in charge of a World Cup game, as it must be also a deeply mental process, and then such a thing happens..anyway, he was part of 2010 World Cup, I think he should be proud of that..

  28. Aleckovic was good in the first 45 minutes, but unluckily big mistakes in second half.
Shot by Livaja (Inter): the ball crossed the line but the second additional Ognjen Valjić was unable to evaluate well the situation. To my mind, it wasn't extremely difficult to see. A few minutes later, a clear penalty for a foul on Cassano was wrongly converted in a corner kick.
Neftci scored the 2-2 in the last minutes, therefore the match was heavily influenced by these decsions.

    2. Goaline technology is being tested at the club world cup so hopefully we won't have this madness for much longer. I believe the pace of the ball is key here, if the shot had alot of power and was travelling fast would be very hard to detect.

Anyone seen the red card on Diego Costa in Plzen - Atletico Madrid? Correct decision from the referee, Jakobsson?

    1. I haven't watched the match but reading on marca.com:

Kristinn Jakobsson (Islandia). Acertó al anular el tanto del Atlético de Madrid por falta al portero checo. No se dejó intimidar por un público que pedía constantemente tarjetas para los colchoneros. Acertó al expulsar a Diego Costa por darle un cabezazo a un rival.

So, a correct red card for a violent conduct.

      Absolutly correct. A particular "headbutt"...
      By the way..
I've been seeing Mr.Jakobsson a lot this season (Montenegro-Poland, Videotn-Sporting Lissboa and Anderlecht-FK Ekranas) an his performance has been the most outstanding...
Why has he not yet been promotet to Elite?

    4. Of course now it's an age-question, he is 1969 born so in two years (31/12/2014) he will have to retire from FIFA list.
The question can be anyway done about the past: he was rarely taken into account for a promotion, even though he was Premier Development several years ago, if I remember well.
Probably the same situation of Alon Yefet.

  31. Hannes Kaasik with a correct red card for serious foul play.
Duarte Gomes with a too hard 2nd yellow card.
Hüseyin Göcek with a to my mind spot on 2nd yellow for diving.
