  1. According to Thursday's edition of German sports magazine kicker, there will be a change in the offside rule next season.
FIFA has decided, that an offside position is active, when the striker gets the ball due to an arbitrary defending action. Until now, intentional actions by the defenders were excluded and counted as passive offside.
Only if the pass is clearly aimed to start an attack, it still will be no punishable offside.

  2. Btw, official opening matches (with ceremonies etc.) of the last two FIFA U20 WCs (2011 Colombia-2013 Turkey) are managed by Cakir. Opening matches are always important in FIFA literature.

    3. Hi,

Albin have every reason I went to the English version of the UEFA website and news which presents the preparation of referees for the UEFA European Women's Football Sweden in 2013. Listing of referees are chosen at the end of that news.

  5. Also there is Angela Kyriakou (CYP) missing from the assistants. Those 2 names are announced many months before and they don't appear in your list. That's why I have my doubts.

    1. This is the list I found on the UEFA site..

However it says in another article that there will be 8 referees, 12 assistants, 3 fourth officials, 1 reserve referee and 2 reserve assistants.

Might Mitsi and Kyriakou be reserves?

  6. Also a small surprise that Pedersen has been left out. Probably due to her Olympic Games performances.

I agree here. The penalty seems a soft call but at the end there is a contact. Not a mistake.

    2. I really can not get any doubt on penalty. Cuba defender both pushes from behind and tackles with his knee. Yes, Korean forwarder falls easily, but that doesnt clear the penalty.

  20. Peter O'Leary showed an overall satisfying performance in an easy match. He had a good line in the basic detection of fouls. However he missed two situations that could have demanded a yellow card each. Unfortunately he also missed a clear penalty that should have gone in favour of Mexico and decided to not award another penalty to Greece later on, was a borderline call, but in the end acceptable that he did not consider the handball as deliberate.
    So in a sum 7.8 (8.1/8.2).

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. For me the handball is penalty. In that position the hand clearly changes the direction of the ball, not to mention that the enlarges the body volume preventing the attacking player to make a long pass.
As for the penalty in Mexico if you talk about the situation in front of Kumar IMO it is nothing. The defender marks his opponent in an acceptable manner (shoulder to shoulder).
But I agree for the mark 7.8(8.1)

      Delete
    2. I did not rule it as a clear mistake, at least in my book, because there were also arguments in favour of O'Leary's call. As for the other situation, the upper body is irrelevant, there was a clear and clumsy contact leg by leg. Understand your view on handball though.

    3. Mark Borsch has eagle eyes. You probably will need several replays to detect what Borsch decided immediately, but it was offside in my opinion (blurred camera view and angles must be taken into account).

    4. In order to be fair I will watch again the penalty for Mexico.

  21. Detailed report for Ricci to follow.
Just so much: correctly resisted a penalty appeal by Turkey, could have given penalty to them in minute 83, 3rd yellow was not correct. Overall image good. AR1 with a wrongly disallowed goal for offside, AR2 correctly disallowed another goal. Overall good performance of the Brazilian crew.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Here's a big surprise. England was leading by 2-0 but Iraq managed the draw at the 3' of added time.

Garcia with a good performance. He correctly awarded a penalty to Iraq and cautioned the GK. There is no case for DOGSO since 2 defenders are already near the goal-line.
