Previously in the tournament, sometimes when matches have been played in the same stadium, the same fourth official has been appointed to both matches.

    2. The fourth officials are confirmed as they are written down here. It is a common practice to appoint the same match official as fourth official for both matches played at the same venue on the same day after the first matchday.

There are several mistakes at these fourth officials.

    1. Yes, several names (unvelied until now):
      Boško Jovanetić (SRB)
      Lars Christoffersen (DEN)
      Eiko Saar (EST)
      Nikola Popov (BUL)
      Gerhard Grobelnik (AUT)
      Aleksandr Gauzer (KAZ)
      Tore Hansen (NOR)
      Andreas Ekberg (SWE)
      Denis Scherbakov (BLR)
      Suren Baliyan (ARM)
      Georgi Vadachkoria (GEO)
      Petur Reinert (FRO)
      Andreas Pappas (GRE)
      Emir Alecković (BIH)
      Sergejus Slyva (LTU)
      Ádám Németh (HUN)
      Thoroddur Hjaltalin (ISL)
      Lorenc Jemini (ALB)
      Daniel Stefanski (POL)
      Martin Strömbergsson (SWE)
      Jari Järvinen (FIN)

To underline, in my opinion: Emir Alecković (he already made his debut in Group Stage last season) and Martin Strombergsson (appointed for Matchday6 of EL last season too, but replaced due to a snowstorm in Sweden).
Probably UEFA is going to push those two names.

Grobelnik, Stefanski and Nemeth can reach much if UEFA appreciate their talent!

    3. About Aleckovic and Strombergsson. Those 2 may be appointed at U19 Euro. That's why UEFA gave them a match so early at EL.

    4. What about Pappas, Edward?

    5. First EL match. A good referee with ups and downs. He is born 1978 (35) so I don't know if he has chances to reach First Group.

He did a Olympiakos - Panathinaikos clash last March and it was satisfying.

What are your opinions about Ghana's 1-0? Was ist offside?

    1. I haven't still watched this goal.
There is an interesting situation also in Spain-France.
This screenshot is the moment of the shot on goal, the Spanish player in the middle of area seems onside, otherwise this goal probably hadto be annulled.
      What do you think?
Very good call by Klasenius, anyway.

After two more replays, I'm quite sure it was. The question is, whose mistake it was..

    3. Philipp S27/6/13 20:09

About ESP-FRA, I agree. The player is onside, if not, it would have been an active position.

    4. GHA-USA clear offside, yes.
The only explanation is that the assistant evaluated that it was a backpass by USA and not a pass by Ghana.
The position is too blatant to be missed.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqKevA_dq-s
      The offside is clear.
Maybe the assistant evaluated that it was a backpass by defender and not a pass, because the position seems quite blatant to be missed...

    6. Philipp S27/6/13 20:57

I think, the last contact was indeed made by the defender, but the player was also offside, when his teammate touched the ball, so wrong decision.
Then it is probably more the referee's than the assitant's fault, but we can't be sure.

In my view, team Jonas Eriksson had a good game tonight, although one must bear in mind that it was two fair teams. I am sure the Swedish team will get more appointments in the knock out phase.

First round of EL; four referees from category 1; Kulbakov; Oliver; Zwayer and Courtney. It would be logic if the first three names goes to the U-19 Champs. But what about Courtney?

  12. Very difficult match for Gassama, probably a crucial mistake happened... a sending off and at least 3 penalty appeals.
