    Off topic.

Sweden uses the adidas referee jerseys. According to info received, the 2014 referee jersey collection from adidas (to be used in the World cup in Brazil) will also be used in all series administered by the Swedish FA 2014. The Swedish FA has however been given the information that there will be no black jersey in the collection at all. Marine blue, red and yellow are the colours according to adidas and FIFA. This contradicts earlier info, and let us see if it turns out correct or not. Some 20 years ago the same happened when the jerseys for the 1994 World cup were revealed (pink, silver and gold...).

Being a traditionalist, my view is that a referee should have a black jersey...

Maybe the correct English term is not marine blue, but navy but you know what I mean...

  3. I agree with you and understood "marine blue" :)
IMO blue kits are used in an inflationary way over the past years. On the other hand last season's CL kit (blue) was much more beautiful than each of the current CL jerseys ...

Not to mention the shorts and socks... Let us speak about something else :-)

The black jersey is replaced by a very dark navy blue shirt as the shorts and socks, too (at first look it looks like black). And there is another blue shirt, a light blue such as the current kit colour but beefier (more solid). Often the fourth colour is not used or, if yes, only in one of the two seasons.

  4. What do people make of Atkinson's appointment......sign of demotion???

    1. Too early to say sth, I think. But ok, if you have 23 Elite referees for 32 CL matches on MD1 and MD2 and only one referee is left out, that can have certain reasons.

Also remarkable that referees like Oliver, Makkelie, Turpin and Zwayer still have no matches. Maybe they will be the first-group referees who will have CL matches matchday 3 and 4?

  6. Szymon Marciniak has whistled two penalties until now.
The first one in my opinion 100% correct, clear foul.
The second one for a handball absolutely wrong...

    1. Absolutely wrong? Of course, the shot was from small distance, but hand position was clearly targeted on increasing a body surface, in my opinion. Very good decision to me, also to book the player for blocking a shot on the goal.

    2. I agree with Chefren.
Yes, the arms increased his body surface a bit (but I would not call it significantly). However, the distance was very small, the hand and arms were in a player-typical / natural position and movement, the hand / arms did not move towards the ball and last but not least the ball slightly came from the offender's back.
On the other hand, I am sure that UEFA agrees with Marciniak, as this scene was quite similar to Kralovec' one in City-BVB last season....and as we know UEFA liked this handball decision in that match.

    3. Exactly, this was my point of view. You said that the distance is small, I would even say that there isn't any distance.
Then, the second point: Pizarro was jumping. He tried to keep the arms in a consistent position. he was looking elsewhere. Tell me where is the deliberate action. So we must change the rules, the big probem is always here. Each shot on goal, blocked by arms or hands, must be always a penalty. Then, I agree..

    4. Here's a screenshot made a bit before the shot:
      http://pbrd.co/159fipz

Defender sees the ball and is aware that there will be a shot. He chooses to outstretch his hands, deliberately increasing his body surface. Therefore, penalty is correct decision to me.

  7. Kenn Hansen issued two correct 2nd yellow cards yesterday. Two reckless challenges led to the respective 2nd caution.

Please check Bezborodov's penalty + RC. No doubt it is dogso, but was it a foul? I had the live impression that the Spaniard got away with the penalty too easily (after a small touch at the chest).
