Senegal - Côte d'Ivoire: Haimoudi (ALG)

    2. Seechurn was overall good in Ivory - Coast - Senegal, but the fact that now he is appointed again it's a bit weird in my opinion.
It seems that CAF has not a big choice among Elite referees?
      Why not the preselected officials?

      Delete
    3. Niklas, wikipedia has Daniel Bennett of South Africa as referee at the Cameroon - Tunisia clash.

    4. Yes, Bennett was also posted here last month. Many forms of media reported it. But now, Seechurn seems to be the one who is selected. At least the press releases looked quite official.. but you never know with this press.

    5. Do you have an example of a press release? Because I couldn't find any mention of both referees.

  6. Does anyone know the reason for Aydinus not being appointed in the group stage so far?

    1. OK, now I found him...
So, same question for CL group stage.
After his Round of 16 match last season, a soon promotion seemed likely.

    2. He failed the fitness tests prior to the season and had to repeat it last October.

  7. Two red cards and a penalty in Rocchi match.

      Penalty correct.
First red card absolutely correct, SFP walking on the legs of the opponent.
Second red card (to Argentina keeper). Here there could be doubts, the player jumps and at the end there isn't a clear contact, but of course from the point of view of the referee, here it is almost impossible to let the game flow. Acceptable red card, but the keeper is penalized too much.

  9. The final will be Mexico - Nigeria.
My predictions, assuming that CONCACAF, CAF and OFC referees will not involved.

    In case of CONMEBOL: Pitana
In case of UEFA (I don't hope that): Kralovec
In case of AFC: Al Ghamdi

    Third place: Norbert Hauata (TAH)

    1. My predictions

      Final: Al Khamdi.
      Third place: Pitana

I am afraid that Politics will one again prevail.

      Delete
    2. I don't think Pitana will get the final since Argentina played with Mexico the semifinal, and it's FIFA so Uefa ref is -as always- a save and maybe only bet.
      For me:
      Final Clattenburg
      3rd Hauta

      Delete
    3. Pitana would not be able to handle Argentina in the third place final, Edward.
Match will be Sweden - Argentina :)

      Delete
    4. Carlos do you think that Clattenburg is again possible?
Thta would be the second FIFA final for him, but at the end Webb is sure for WC.
A no-sense. In case of UEFA, I hope a different name.

      Delete
    5. My feeling:
Argentina - Sweden: Bennett, Range, Siwela, Hauata, Rule
Mexico - Nigeria: Stark, Salver, Pickel, Královec, Slysko

      Delete
    6. It all is about politics, how will you let the english golden boy, the Olympic games final referee with no knock-out stage match? Yhe problem is that Busacca will get pressure for appointing him, and Busacca is not a very good man to handel that kind of pressure, at least that is what I think...

    7. Philipp S5/11/13 20:30

      I think:
Argentina - Sweden: Rodriguez, Torrentera, Quintero, Abdou, Marad
Mexico - Nigeria: Clattenburg, Child, Beck, Al Ghamdi, Al Shumrani
(The fourth officials are my respective second choices)

If Clattenburg does not get a further match, there are two possible reasons: He was bad in the group stage, or FIFA gives him a WC play-off instead.

    Third place: Al Khamdi

  11. Rocchi by the way issued two correct red cards, awarded one penalty, but missed an earlier red card for serious foul play (elbow used as a weapon). Furthermore, AR2 Cariolato missed a 2m-offside goal (the player in offside got the ball from a header of his teammate).

    1. I missed this blatant mistake.
I must admit that Cariolato sometimes is not at Di Liberatore level... too blatant mistake for a FIFA tournament.
Argentina-Mexico seems to be a fatal match for Italian assistant referees, you surely remember Ayroldi at WC.
