  1. Very good. I think that Collina will be there for an Elite Development, as you have predicted, too.
There are only three Development officials who can get this match: Strahonja (CRO), Bebek (CRO), Stavrev (MKD).
My guess is Bebek and this should be the final exam for this promotion.
It would be nice to have an Israeli referee in CL, anyway I think that more likely we will have Boiko from Category 1.
I don't know whether it is possible to see again an Italian crew for Manchester United, after Rizzoli and his mistake with Young.

  2. I guess Bebek is the obvious choice for Collina. Even though the last time PLC observed Bebek, Bebek was demoted.

  7. Kuipers will get an appointment in UEL on MD6 due to his performance in his last CL-match.

    2. Maybe UEFA also saw his (according to this blog) good performance in Croatia-Iceland and they do appoint him for a UCL match. And we don't know for sure that UEFA thinks he did a bad job in Dortmund in MD4... Unless someone here has good contact with UEFA of course :)

    3. I count very much on such sources. It is normal that their identity cannot be revealed. Honestly speaking, I am then very much bothered who will handle Gala-Juve. Brych is not possible (theoretically) since Piller already observed him in play-offs.

I can give you another info.
Matej Zunic will not appear in Skomina's team on CL MD6.

    4. Well, for Galatasaray - Juventus there are 6 names on the paper (assuming that an Elite official will handle the clash):
Brych, Stark, Kuipers, Mazic, Proença, Skomina,.
And we can't exclude, in case of need, the fourth appointment of another Elite official already appeared in MD5.
Having said that, Stark would not be the right choice in my opinion, due to his problems with the Turkish team one year ago.
Furthermore, we can't exclude that Piller will observe the same referee again, it already happened with Kassai.

    5. The best choice considering the demands of the match would be Brych or Proenca, imo.

    6. Considering the info you have posted about Zunic, probably Skomina will appear in a "minor" match, not as punishment, but becuase he needs to stay for a while in the shadow..

    7. I can imagine why some sources need a hidden identity... But of course we don't know whether anonymous is talking the truth or not. Time will tell :) and apparently you did not have this information Niclas since you predict Kuipers for Gala-Juve ;) but again, we'll see what the appointments are in a bit more than a week I think.

If Niclas alreadt knows that (a) Skomina has a game in CL MD6 and (b) Zunic will not be there, he surely knows more from UEFA! :)

  12. Just randomly mulling over the observers when I read the name Elleray. Wasn't he also designated in MD6 last year? I'm not sure but I think he was observing Chapron. The Frenchman was then subsequently demoted a couple weeks later. I think we might see an ED official in Vienna-Zenit with Bebek, Strahonja and Borbalan being possible appointees.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You are right. It was Chapron's last match as ED referee, having missed a penalty in this match.
However, committee members do not necessarily have to mean a coming demotion, they can also mean the opposite. But at least they mean something and not nothing. My guess also is Fernández and if I am wrong with Strahonja in Collina's match, then Strahonja in Vienna.

  13. By the way, Webb and Clattenburg are with their regular assistants for this weekend's PL fixtures.
Clatts on Saturday and Webb the following day. Bearing that in mind, I predict Clatts will get a game on Tuesday and Webb on Wednesday.

  15. Rocchi is appointed as AAR1 in a serie A match on Friday (Bologna-Juventus).
This match will be played tomorrow because Juventus has the crucial game in Turkey on Tuesday.
Well, this appointment off Rocchi surely means that he has CL on Tuesday.
Di Liberatore is appointed here too, as fourth official. So this time probably we will have Rocchi - Di Liberatore - Pozzi (without Cariolato).
Well, taking a look at the matches available, the only choice should be (as already guessed by Niclas, too) Manchester United - Shakthar.
Real Sociedad - Levekusen is not possible due to Collina presence, in Group B an Italian referee is not allowed, in group C Anderlecht and Benfica had an Italian official (Orsato) in the last matchday) and finally Rocchi already appeared in group D.
So Old Trafford seems a forced choice for him.
    We will see...

    1. I always admire other national associations who give their respective clubs every opportunity to excel in European competitions by bringing back a fixture by 24hrs for example. In England, this is certainly not the case. The winter break is also common in Europe while on these shores, the Premier League is still played during the festive season. This is probably why we have seen sub-standard performances in continental competitions by British teams in recent year's.
