World Cup 2014 - These Referees have already left Brazil

"The committee defined the list after careful monitoring of all referees and assistant referees on a daily basis together with the technical staff. In line with how designations have been made throughout the tournament, quality was the main criteria while physical, medical and technical aspects were also taken into consideration."
FIFA's joke of the day, 7 July 2014.

Contrary to previous World Cup editions, FIFA's Refereeing Department headed by Massimo Busacca applied the policy to not send referees home before the last quarterfinal has been played. 1. Why does it say OFC/CAF for one of the headings? I think you only meant one of them?

    1. Because Norbert Hauata (TAH) and Aden Range (KEN) formed one mixed standby duo.

  2. I can't believe Ricci is still in, while Brych, Kuipers en Pitana are out.
Did Busacca forget Brasil is still in the tournament?

    1. Host Country ref's always stay till the end apparently.

Don't think he will get a game though.

    2. After Rodriguez, Nishimura is the most logical choice for ARG-NED in my opinion.

    3. But then Cakir? directly into final? one of the best UEFA officials in this WC, just two matches in group stage?
for me, Cakir appointment is quite sure for ARG NED.

  5. Gassama home as well as Aguilar, Brych and Kuipers, while Ricci, Nishimura, Rizzoli, Velasco and Irmatov may stay in the tournament? Busacca absolutely went wild...

  7. Why Gassama is out while Nishimura is in... ? I expect an explanation...

  8. I'm convincing myself that Cakir wont be appointed for NED-ARG.
Indeed, ARG is in the same situation of Brazil, after two (to be honest, three including also group stage) UEFA referees in a row, they could get an official from a neutral confederation. At the same time, there are some relations between Netherlands and Turkey refereeing departments with J. Uilenberg often active in Turkey. Kuipers and Cakir trained together for this WC. So at any rate I think Cakir can't be there. Considering all the CONMEBOL referees out also for this match, the only chance is Nishimura or a CAF official... and that would also explain why they wanted the Japanese still there.
I must be honest, Niclas was right... let's see anyway, we will know that soon, hopefully.

    1. The referee is good ole' Alan Kelly!
Maybe because he left the pitch to celebrate? Delay of game? Seems very harsh and unnecessary, although celebrations in MLS are certainly less elaborate and are shorter than in Europe, it seems to me.

  10. Cqkir with Eriksson as fourth

  11. I must say FIFA, Busscca, Boyce and the redt of committee are disgrace. They should all quit after WC.
Osses, Nishimura, Proenca, Vellasco all left in Brazil and Kuipers, Pitana and Gassama sent home ??!!??!! We were all very critic on UEFAs appointment system but what FIFA did in Brazil is catastrophic. IEFA at least give chances to edverybody more or less but this in Brazil? Gassama with only one match, what about Vera, for me he made the bravest call ever, whistle a penalty in add time which decided Greece will go in knock out. Velasco? As Niclas said no comment on him, only not so clever man could choose him over Undiano. Kassai instead Mazic, please, Mazics behavior on the pitch with players was also disgrace. What a bad tournament for fifa refereeing

  12. Maybe I'm way off the right track but if Ned should defeat Arg in the 2nd semifinal, I wouldn't be surprised to see Ricci officiate the final.
