  2. Karasev after Malmo - Olympiakos is appointed to Serbia - Spain. If I were to believe many newspapers and websites in Greece, he wouldn't be appointed in UEFA level again.

    1. And what about Soares Dias? How many committee members and important observers he got in the recent years? I have lost the count.
UEFA has not a big fantasy. Exactly two years ago in the same date (12 October 2012), Artur Dias was appointed for Italy under 21 in the first leg of 2013 EURO U21 play off, Italy - Sweden.
Now the same. Italy again inthe first leg of the 2015 EURO U21 play off.

    2. Soares Dias is the best Portuguese referee. Stranger still be in the second category.

Sousa and he should be the two Portuguese elite in the uefa.

      Ranking Portuguese referee (my opinion):

      1. Soares Dias
      2 Proenca
      3 Marco Ferreira
      4. Sousa
      5 Xistra
      6 Miguel
      7 Gomes
      8 Benquerença
      9 Capela

      ARs (top 5)

      1 Miranda
      2. Mesquita
      3 P. Soares
      4 R. Santos
      5 B. Rodrigues

    3. Daniel I watched live Soares Dias last March in a U21 match and IMO he was well below par. Poor control, mistake penalty call + DOGSO. If you think that he is no1 in Portugal, then something is definitely wrong.

      Delete
    4. I see more than one matche per year him. So I consider the no1.

Greece vs Turkey is always a difficult matche.

    5. Soares failed in most of his international matches with committee observation. The domestic league shape is one side, international performances the other. It is good that UEFA does not ignore referees just because of 1-2 poor performances - but I don't lose the feeling they just count on him because there has to be a Portuguese Elite official after Benquerenca and Proenca (just because it is Portugal).

      Delete
    6. Soares Dias failure as everyone. If it were Italian, German or English already would be in the elite.

Don´t forget a mistake Tagliavento in 2010 europe league (ball 1 meter within the soccer and no goal). In January (39 years) is promoted to elite.

Sousa, who rarely missed in their games uefa, seems doomed to end in the first category.

More, Soares Dias and Sousa are very harmed in the assignment of ARs by the Portuguese federation. Are the north of Portugal (Porto), where are the best ARs (Bertino, Cardinal, however removed, both also from Porto), which have been assigned to referee the south of the country, Proenca and Benquerença, the two would not have achieved anything without Cardinal and Bertino.

    7. Cardeal >>> CardInal ehehe :)

    8. Manuel de Sousa appeared to be a promising referee. His Ajax-Real appointment was also a sign for that. Unfortunately Santos' mistakes seemed to be reason enough to not count on him anymore.. I had the chance to watch him live once and was pretty convinced.

How is possible that Karasev can be in Serbia-Spain
    after the Malmo-Olympyakos?
Collina and Co. poor each day.

    1. I don't think it should be a yellow card as the ball is there to be played and the tackle is just careless. However, one can argue that it is a tactical foul but since advantage is played it doesn't necessarily stop a promising attack.

  5. Good decision.

    Who is the referee?

  6. Anonymous7/10/14 21:40

Can't give advantage when you have to send off a player. Please think what happens if the same player prior to the next stoppage, makes another foul or even a save on the line, like a DOGSO.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Of course you can give an advantage if necessary. However, it is advised not to do it unless the advantage is particularly great, since, as you mention, it could lead to problems.

    2. Anonymous8/10/14 13:11

There are clear statement in Additional indtructions in LoTG that "ina case of sending-off advantage can pe applied only in IMMEDIATE DOGSO". Herem that was not that case.

Very good appointment for Javier Estrada from Second Group. After his final in the U19 tournament this will be the last test for promotion I think.

He's a great referee. I can't believe he has been discovered so late. Better than Velasco, Undiano and Mateu Lahoz!

    2. Anonymous8/10/14 21:02

I agree. He doesn't have advantage by his age. I doubt about his capability to reach to the Elite Group, but Group 1 is absolutely possible.
He has a good style. Only negative point is that he's very small.

    3. Estrada is not better that Velasco,Undiano and Matéu.

I think Gozubuyuk (NED) have a good change. He was last weekend in the dutch league with two fifa assistants (Steegstra and Langkamp), and had an good performance last month with a committee observer.

    2. Gozubuyuk has some U19 qualifying matches in Northern Ireland with Hessel Steegstra. They will be busy at least until 14 October.

I don't think a category 2 referee (gozebuyuk) will be appointed for such important matches. Unless you are on a promotion place and imo serdar is not. I think Estrada will have a bigger chance. And Makkelie, Oliver and Zwayer will have a match I think.

Clear and correct penalty whistled by Sidiropoulos in NED - POR today.

  14. His performance was good. Difficulty of the match was normal. Two yellow cards could be dealt with personality. I am looking forward to the matches of tomorrow and interested in the appointments for the returns. When will this be announced / published?

    1. Appointments for second legs of U21 play off will be published on 11 October, as always, three days prior to the matches.
Thanks for the info about Sidiropoulos performance :)

  16. Danny Makkelie (NED) to handle Ukraine U21 - Germany U21.
He will be assisted by his fellow countrymen Patrick Langkamp (FIFA) and Joost van Zuilen. 4th official will be Jochem Kamphuis. It seems that Van Zuilen is getting prepared to become an international. A quite big talent, so an important test for him.

  17. I watched Soares Dias in SVK - ITA and I must say that I was not totally convinced by his performance.
His tactical approach was very lenient, in first half and in most of second half, he tried to manage all the situations just whistling. I think that more communication and interaction with players was needed. In addition to that, he had in my opinion a not good foul detection. I don't want to say that it was poor but surely there were some mistakes here and there. Overall, there weren't big troubles in controlling the game but referee issued cards for dissenting gestures and kicking the ball away. This, in my opinion, was caused by his style. He should be more determined while selling his decisions, again, using a clear communication with players.
There was a penalty appeal in first half by Slovakia (28'). I think that in this case Soares was right in his decision to play on. No replay was aired but the player seemed to fall down too easily waiting for a whistle.
In second half there was another situation (64'): a handball occurred and Slovakia asked again for a penalty. In this case I think that one can discuss and in my opinion it was more penalty than nothing. Anyway, this situation was not the big issue of Soares match, apart from that, as reported, he has in my opinion some areas for improvement. The management of the players was not always the best possible and there were some wrong whistles.
I think we could be in the area of 8.2 / 8.3 (exactly between these two marks) without the handball situation, of course.
Both ARs were highly challenged, especially at the beginning, and some calls were crucial, but I'm sorry to report that replays were not shown and so I can say nothing about that.

  18. What I saw from Özkahya was slightly below expected level. In some occasions in the first half he did not protect the players adequately and did not find the right moment for the first YC. Personality and fitness were both good.

  19. Extremely soft penalty give to France from Hansen. Arm was still hanging alongside the body and the french player headed the ball on it from like 2 meters, impossible to get the arm away and it was in a natural position.

  20. Kenn Hansen with a wrong PK and YC for handball. No chance for the defender to avoid that.
