Faghani or Shukralla for the final?

    1. I think Shukralla. Else, they would have given him an other knock out match. And he was a regular referee at the WC, not only 4th. So he is somehow over Faghani in the ranking.

    2. Both good choices. Perhaps Faghani is slightly more deserving during this tournament. But they are both excellent talents. Also I wonder if Faghani being assigned as 4th official to Sato means that Shukralla is more likely. In a perfect world it would be nice to see Shukralla and Faghani in the final and 3rd place match. But I expect for Shukralla to get the final, and Al Hilali (OMA)/Mohammed Adbulla (UAE) (or preferably Hussain, but he is 4th official to Irmatov) for the 3rd place match

I am not fan of the Spanish referees and their style of refereeing but yesterday I saw the maybe only Spanish I could like: Alejandro José Hernández Hernández (UEFA category 2, 33 years) with a really good performance in Cordoba-Real. Hope to see more of him!

  3. Both are good appointments IMO.

Shukralla has been kept for the final without getting any other knock out matches, I can't imagine Shukralla, a recent world cup referee not getting any meaningful knock out matches in this Asian Cup. Irmatov already had final in 2011, so this time he gets the semi final involving host nation, so it was expected Irmatov will not get the final this time.

Shukralla had Australia - Korea Republic in group stage, now in case of final appointment, he could officiate again the same match. Is that possible?

Faghani is definitely out for Iraq's matches after the Iran-Iraq game refereed by Williams. Too much bad energy between Iraq and Iran now.

The matches between Iran - Iraq have always been ill-tempered and difficult to handle for referees in the past, due the obvious historic reasons. AFC has appointed the best available and eligible referee who is perceived to be neutral for both sides.

Is it possible to see in the final or impossible ?

  9. Good performance by Sato from what I have seen. 8.3-8.4 level for me.

  10. Yes, good performance. Maybe one card for IRQ missed, but otherwise very calm, good player management.

What do you think about the Scene IRQ #2 vs KOR goalie (72')?

No penalty, correct call! There was no physical contact involved that i would consider to be illicit.

  11. Is anybody else having problem downloading the UEFA RAP 2014.2? After downloading it keeps getting error when extracting. I've redownloaded it twice now..

    1. Initially, my download to finish prematurely (i.e. it would finish before it was completely downloaded), you might want to try using download manager (www.freedownloadmanager.org/) as that worked for me.

    2. I downloaded UEFA RAP without any problem.

    3. Yes, I had similar problems the first time. The second time, it worked without problems.

when i downloaded it, it shows the clips of the incidents but does not give the analysis of the decisions made, whether it was correct or incorrect etc. Is it like this for everyone?

  14. Irmatov with an easy semi-final. I suspect on an 8.2/8.3 level. There were two blantant saves by the UAE keeper missed, but that was the only main concern in the match. AR2 made one poor error, signalling an offside with the attacker in his own half when the ball was kicked. But it was an easy match to lose concentration on.

Do you really trust what written on wikipedia? You can edit that and write your name, too. Please.

    2. Yes and now Wikipedia says Al-Mirdasi for 3rd place and Faghani for final. So I doubt its credibility.

    3. Of course I do not trust it. But sometimes, there is some truth in there. Faghani was appointed to the final.

  18. Arbitro Internacional have just released the final two appointments. Shukralla, Tulefat, Saleh and Williams for the 3rd place and Faghani, Sokhandan, Abolfazli and Al Mirdasi for the Final! This was surprising, but I think very fair. The best referee of the tournament got the final.

In terms of reputation, Shukralla is ahead of Faghani, as Shukralla was an acting referee at the WC 2014 whereas Faghani was only a reserve at WC, and Shukralla also handled matches in the last Asian Cup. I still think Shukralla was AFC's first choice for the final. But the fact that Shukralla already handled the match Aus-Kor at group stage probably have ruled him out of the final in the end, as we saw during that group game, the Korean coach complained bitterly on the sideline about a few injuries his players sustained from rough play by Australia.
