UEFA Winter Course 2015 Athens with a guest from Chile

Chilean World Cup 2014 referee Enrique Osses has been invited by UEFA to join their refereeing winter course in Athens from 1 to 5 February. As usual, UEFA's top referees and new FIFA match officials will use this opportunity to gather and prepare for their coming challenges and the knockout-stages of UEFA's club competitions.

In Athens' Divani Apollon Hotel, male and female referees belonging to UEFA's Elite and First Group (no female First Group referees) are, among others, about to conduct theoretical video tests as well as physical tests and sessions, will face administrative matters and will be briefed in match-fixing awareness.

While Pierluigi Collina, Hugh Dallas and Vlado Sajn are mostly responsible for holding speeches and guiding the officials through the course, former Romanian football player Ioan Lupescu will be present to teach the match officials with regard to tactical awareness. Dagmar Damkova and Bo Karlsson are, as usual, responsible for the female Elite of European referees.

Maybe as the starting point of a co-operation between South America's federation CONMEBOL and UEFA, Chilean Enrique Osses (photo) will join the pool of Elite and First Group referees participating in the meeting. Pedro Proença of Portugal is not among the attendees, indicating that he has indeed finished his career. In a newspaper article, Pierluigi Collina underlined UEFA's interest in keeping the EURO 2012 final official in their roster though.

    1. I should be very surprised if he won't replace Jozef Marko in the ref. committee in March. There are some signs indicating that.

Furthermore Jozef Marko will, as far as I know, leave the committee due to age in March, so there should be a replacement. We'll see.

Would you think likely Senor Osses Chile may be handed a UEL or UCL knockout stage game?
Also Mr Marko may stay on till the normal end of the football season, would that also not be likely?
