It´s a pity that Felix Zwayer just gets such a match. I think that´s a sign that he has to go home after the second match.

Are you seriously putting Al-Mirdasi in such a crucial must win game? Did you not watch his disastrous performance last night? Mexico and Serbia both deserve a much better referee for this important match.
If FIFA does the right thing, there are only two places they should put Al-Mirdasi. On the touchline as a 4th official for the rest of the tournament (like Nishimura) or a plane back to the KSA.

    2. The matches on Saturday are already published (see above).
For the last four group stage matches, I would say:
HON-GER Conger (NZL) 4th: Valenzuela (VEN)
FIJ-UZB Vad (HUN) 4th: Liany (ISR)
HUN-NIG Fedorczuk (URU) 4th: Castro (HON)
BRA-KOR Bebek (CRO) or Camille (SEY), 4th: Waldron (NZL)

  4. First appointments for Women WC are published:
Monzul (UKR) has the opening match CAN-CHN
    NZL-NED: Alvarado (MEX)
    NOR-THA: Keighley (NZL)
    GER-CIV: Chenard (CAN)

She said that Carlos pushed her for becoming a referee after his retirement in 2010, in 2013 she was already FIFA listed and now WC. Draw your conclusions.

Interesting situation in the Swedish League. A defender is signaling for offside and has his hand in the air when the ball is headed from another defender and hit the hand. No penalty from the referee. Said afterwards it was one of the toughest situations he has faced but that the defender had no intention of playing the ball with the hand.

Don't know if this clip works outside Sweden. http://tv.aftonbladet.se/abtv/articles/80126

    2. Anonymous, is it possible that you record this small clip and post / upload it somewhere?

Without watching it, and just from your description, the argument "unnatural position" outweighs the argument "no clear intention at all" in the sense of the LotG IMO.

    3. Anonymous5/6/15 14:38

The situation comes 33.40 in to the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-a6RflCN1Wc

What about the fact that a handball must be deliberat?

      Delete
    4. Deliberate in the sense of Law 12 does not always mean sth like "fully intentional". Nowadays also "careless" (no exact wording) handballs can be considered as deliberate, e.g. making your body bigger under some circumstances.

On the clip. For me that is a punishable handball. You cannot justify such a hand position with small distance or no intention.

  7. Interesting: FIFA said they were going to designate 7/29 referees as support referees, but I haven't seen any announcement of who these are. We can all guess...
Also, does anyone know if the plan is to use stable trios?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Anonymous5/6/15 08:55

Speaking badly, one could say that FIFA expect poor peformances so it is better not to communicate reserve trios, in order to make all appointments without limits.

Shocking penalty by Otogo Castane. No touch at all.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Anonymous5/6/15 10:26

WTF did Otogo Castane see? No contact at all and the US player even gets up acting like he simply lost the ball. So far CAF and AFC have been simply poor at best.
And to compound the mistake on the pk. The Ukranian keeper takes 3 to 4 steps off his line prior to the kick.
Otogo Castane was poor at the AFCON and yet the ever "wise men" at FIFA decide to bring him to this tournament. Well there is what you get.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. One remark on Otogo and AFCONs: AFCON 2014 has been very good by him, correct penalties, good control in relevant matches. That was the reason why he entered the pre list. AFCON 2015 was worse with some dubious penalty calls, too.

      Delete
    2. Anonymous5/6/15 11:18

      Did you mean AFCON 2013?

      Delete
    3. Yes 2013, sorry.

      Delete
    4. To add: I guess Busacca will blame Otogo's positioning in this penalty. See where he stands, from this angle it indeed might have looked like a contact.

This penalty call reminds me Tunisia - Cape Verde. It seems as in doubt, Otogo goes always for the penalty.

      Delete
    6. Anonymous5/6/15 21:32

Well maybe just maybe if Busacca and his fellow henchmen allowed the referee's to officiate the way they are used to. Then maybe just maybe we would have less mistakes. But nope, they go and try to fix what is not broken in the first place. Bunch of geniuses at FIFA I tell ya.

Ok Anonymous now I think you can stop your fight against Al Mirdasi, it is clear that he made some mistakes but no need to blame him every now and then.

      Delete
    3. Why? Mazzoleni is a first category referee in Europa. There are very large differnce between Mazzoleni and Mirdasi
I think he is the best in KSA. But He had more crucial mistake (more penalty situation is bad) in Hungary-Brazil! (Red card is correct) I think he go home after this match.

Wrong penalty decision by Daniele Orsato. IMO the player was fouled outside the penalty area. But the penalty was missed anyway.
