Good mix of 2nd group talents and the lowest ranked 1st group referees. All these are very interesting, competitive games.

Where are Manuel Gräfe? The best referee of Germany, although
Collina and Company are not OK.

I see much better refs than Gräfe in Bundesliga, like Brych, Aytekin, Zwayer and Welz. Gräfe was a talented ref, but become only number 4 or 5 of the german international refs. In germany he get some challenging games, but with his mistake(s) in barrage KSC-HSV he is not longer in the german top three.

Anyway, he did KSC-HSV in a great manner despite his two crucial mistakes... The same picture last year in Salzburg (against Basel) - a really great performance (8.7 in this blog as I remember) and then a crucial mistake... For me he is an excellent referee with a great personality, but due some crucial mistakes he is only no.4 behind Zwayer.

I think the third qualifying round is too early for him; we'll see him in the play-offs and some groupstage games.

Former Elite referee Stéphane Lannoy is also under the threat of a disciplinary sanction because he reported an "autocratic management style" from Garibian.

Was the IFAB additional clarification and/or guidance relating to the definition of the offside offence of ‘interfering with an opponent’ and also to the definition of ‘save’ in the context of offside (Laws of the Game, p. 110) posted on here?

  11. 3 changes.

Istvan Kovacs has now Vaduz - Thun instead of Pavel Balaj. Also his observer has changed and it's Marcel Vanelshocht (BEL). Christoforos Zografos (GRE) will now observe Anthony Gautier (FRA).

  12. A challenging game for Harald Lechner, I see. Huge test for him: two penalties for home-team, a sending off and also a match suspension for a few time (I don't know why..).

I am also intrested in his performace. Can you tell a bit more? Were the mentioned decisions correct?

And anybody saw Drachta's match? I would like to know about his performace.

  13. Good first half by Stieler. A correctly rejected penalty appeal for AEK, a sending-off for #11 BOR in 45'.

AR1 with a crucial mistake since BOR 0-1 is offside.

  14. Anonymous6/8/15 21:10

Wrong decision of AR1 in Dortmund - Wolfsberg. He signalled a handball by Reus but he never touched the ball with his hand.....

And i don't like the way in wich Avram shows the cards. It looks a bit arrogant.

    1. Anonymous6/8/15 21:13

And now a missed penalty for Dortmund
I don't know how he can miss that.....

Intresting dissallowed goal in 42'. Your view about it?

      Delete
    2. Anonymous6/8/15 21:27

      3 mistakes in Dortmund:
      - handball by Reus was incorrect (Crucial mistake)
      - missed penalty and missed yellow card for SPA (no DOGSO to me, because the ball went not to the goal after the keeper committed the foul)
      - wrong offside decision by AR1

So far, for me it's a 7.8 to Avram and and a 7.3/7.4 to AR1

      Delete
    3. Why would you assign a CM to AR1 in the handball decision? It is a wrong call but clearly not "clear and important" mistake, simply a wrongly judged handball situation.
Also the bizarre YC is also the referee's responsibility, he has to recognize that there is no 'unsporting behaviour".

      Delete
  15. Really interesting offside situation at BVB vs WAC in 42', does #17 BVB interefere with play and/or opponent? Anyboby a link?
In my opinion, this decision can be accepted as #17 BVB (being clearly offside) hinders his opponent from clearing the ball. Your views?

    1. Anonymous6/8/15 21:35

I think this decision was correct. He clearly hinders his opponent to play the ball.

  16. Anonymous6/8/15 21:28

Bad first half by Avram. Like above was said a totally wrong YC for Reus and a clear missed penalty. No offside before the goal in 42' in my opinion, so another mistake was made by the Romanian officials.
Marks in first half are in my opinion:
    Avram 7.8 (8.1); Nagi 7.9 (8.3); Avram 8.4
I hope for the team that they'll show a better performence in 2nd half.

      Agree. Well done.

    3. Anonymous6/8/15 22:12

Missed foul (SPA?) by Avram and AR1 in minute 80.

Now a good advantage leads to 4:0. Well seen onside by AR2.

      Delete
    4. Anonymous6/8/15 22:35

Solid 2nd half by Avram. Missed foul and YC for Schmelzer (AR1 involved), but a very good advantage given that led to 4:0.
AR2 with well seen onsides before two goals, but with one wrong offside decision.
      So, my finally marks are:
      Avram 7.8 (8.1); Nagi 7.8 (8.2); Avram 8.5
      Do you agree?

      Delete
    5. Anonymous6/8/15 22:45

Well analysed, but i think that the offside decision in 42' was correct because the player in offside position clearly hinders the defender to try to clear the ball. So i would go for 8.2 for AR1 Nagi.

      Delete
    6. Anonymous6/8/15 23:01

It's definitely a difficult decision for AR1 and for us. I really understand both sides (one side says offside, the other no offside). Sure, there're arguments for the offside decision, but I think there're also arguments against this decision.
But, yes, you're right. If I can't decide if it was a right or wrong decision, I have to back the assistant referee.
      So I accept a 8.2.

      Delete
    7. Anonymous6/8/15 23:27

Please explain how you can come to the conclusion that it was no offside. Defender was impeded when he tried to make a clearance.

    8. Anonymous6/8/15 23:54

Like I said, I accept and understand both sides.

      Correct RC by Gautier imo.

      Delete
    4. Anonymous6/8/15 23:45

Difficult. I can accept his decision, of course we could also accept a penalty whistle. But was the contact really enough for falling down?

What is your opinion to the RC? Two stretched legs but no contact with his opponent.

      Delete
    5. Anonymous6/8/15 23:58

I think in the end that play on was the right decision.

My first impression was RC. It was a very dangerous tackle from backwards.
But you are right, there was no contact. Difficult to decide but i still think that the RC was the better decision than a YC.

Pawel Raczkowski is the dimension from I which observe the refereeing refereed quite good. There were little things that I "criticized" an experienced referees (which might not have happened) but for a development-referee in the normal game it was a strong 8.3. Teamwork is good, a little work on the consistency of card policy and a stronger personality in future, but he is a referee in development. Quite satisfactory management.
