Tagliavento in EL again? Isn't he part of Elite Category referees?

Now even Thomson and Borbalan got CL assignments, this should mean that Tagliavento's demotion is really close to come.

      Tagliavento is one bad referee(see

  2. So Kristinn Jakobsson is now an observer.

Orel Grinfeeld is a huge shock. Probably the last of the 2nd group referees I expected to get a debut. What has he shown that merits this appointment?

There are opposite functions at Lokomotiv-Skenderbeu. Mejuto Gonzalez will be a referee observer and Listkiewicz will be a delegate.

Is there a list for which of these referees it is their debut in the UEFA Europa League? Would be great to read every round... I hear some of these names for the first time.

    3. Decent appointment for Taylor, there. Looks like Lee Betts will be FIFA-listed, come the new year.

Note for reporter Estonia - Lithuania: you wrote 'advantage rule'. Advantage is not a proper rule, but just an option which can assure a better management of a situation. Indeed, if referee fails in applying advantage, this wont be a real mistake.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Most of the observers write it that way. I know it isn't a formal rule.

      Delete
    2. @Anonymous
It is in the Laws of the Game (Law 5), listed as one of the duties of the referee. A failure to apply advantage or an incorrect application can be a mistake (and even a crucial mistake in some rare cases).

My only doubt is the initial penalty which looked soft. I'm definitely OK with the two retakes; AR showed rare boldness.

  13. Several sonorous clashes are about to be played in domestic leagues on the next week end, some examples: in Spain, Madrid derby will be handled by Undiano Mallenco, in Italian serie A Rizzoli will officiate AC Milan - SSC Napoli, Anthony Taylor will be the man in the middle for Arsenal - Manchester United in Premier League, Marco Fritz will handle Bundesliga's Bayern München - Borussia Dortmund, Bas Nijhuis has been assigned to Ajax - PSV in Eredivise, while Benoît Bastien will be in charge of Paris Saint Germain - Olympique de Marseille for Ligue 1.

  14. Ozkahya with a straight RC for Saint Etienne. The replay doesn't really support this decision.

    ReplyDelete
  15. It is reported that team Koukoulakis in Warsaw has been transferred in the van to a wrong stadium so they have arrived late to Pepsi Arena for Legia - Napoli. The match will be anyway regularly played.

  18. Kenn Hansen with a solid performance tonight in Glasgow. Not much to argue, faultless foul detection and spot-on disciplinary control. Very mature appearance from the Danish. Let's see if this was his ticket to CL... Match Report to follow.

  19. My predictions for MD3 (CL):

Borisov - Barcelona: Tasos Sidiropoulos (GRE)
Leverkusen - Roma: William Collum (SCO)
Arsenal - Bayern: Milorad Mazic (SRB)
Dinamo - Olympiacos: Daniele Orsato (ITA)
Porto - Tel Aviv: Ivan Bebek (CRO)
Kyiv - Chelsea: Pável Královec (CZE)
Zenit - Lyon: Svein Oddvar Moen (NOR)
Valencia - Gent: Ovidiu Hategan (ROU)
Malmö - Shakhtar: Kenn Hansen (DEN)

Atlético - Astana: Craig Thomson (SCO)
Galatasaray - Benfica: Damir Skomina (SVN)
Juventus - Mönchengladbach: Sergei Karasev (RUS)
City - Sevilla: Björn Kuipers (NED)

    What do you think?

    K.S.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't think that some referees, that officiated 2nd round matches (both CL and EL), would be on the pitch again in 3rd. There are bigger chances for them to officiate the 4th round. Besides that, Collum had some big mistakes in last games, so I think that he should receive some less important match, or easier match (Malmo-Shakhtar or Porto-Maccabi). I believe that Bebek will rest this time. I don't expect Kuipers to officiate another match of Spaniards. But, who knows. We will see soon.

      Delete
    2. I don't think that we see a Danish referee in Malmö. But I know how difficult it is, dear K.S., it should not be any critic to you.

It is difficult to say if we see on MD3 more referees who officiated on MD1 or on MD2 - before MD3 there are a lot of qualifying games for the EURO 2016, I think we can expect there mostly referees who where appointed on MD1 of the CL/EL, hardly a referee who whistled now on MD2, only a few days before the qualifying games.

      Delete
    3. Well, there are 2 rounds of qualifying matches for the EURO 2016. In second (11, 12, 13th October) I expect most of referees from MD2 (if referees from MD1 would be whistling in the first round). We will have some very important clashes then. Hard to say.

      Delete
    4. Koukoulakis Euro Qualifier MD9 (8-10 October)

      Sidiropoulos MD 10 (11-13)

      Delete
    5. Delferiere Sebastien (BEL) Euro Qualifier MD9 (8-10 Octobre)
with AR : De Neve Yves - Nijssen Thibaud, AAR : Lardot Jonathan - Lambrechts Erik & 4Off : Huens Danny

  21. From what I was able to see in the stadium, Pol van Boekel performed well. Correct penalty for handball (a player in the free-kick's wall raised his arm unnaturally and moved it to the ball). Good player management and verbal interaction. But IMO 1 clear YC was missed. Another one could have been given.
    8.3 for me.

  22. Yesterday, Damir Skomina refereed the Al-Ahli - Al-Sadd match. He was accompanied by Jure Praprotnik and Robert Vukan. Praprotnik appears also in Qatar SC - Umm Salal and Vukan in Al-Khor - Al-Wakrah game today.
