40 Comments:

  1. Reasonable appointments. Cakir in a very good form at moment. Important observers for Karasev and Kassai. The Hungarian should recover soon after some poor performances he had.
As expected, Spanish referees in group D. Names like Eriksson and Velasco, reading their observers, seem to be absolutely sure of EURO call. Forced appointment for the Swedish in this MD5, due to CWC call on December.
Fautrel again in Turpin team, the match in Belarus could appear as minor, but in my opinion it is very important for the outcome of the group.

  4. Overall satisfying first half by Svein Moen, mostly correct decisions, maybe 1 missing YC and 1-2 minor mistakes.
Assistants not faultless either, AR2 with 1 wrong offside but also with a supportable NO offside decision prior to the 1:0 goal. The foot was probably some cms offside, in doubt for the attacker. AR1 Haglund with one clearly incorrect offside flag denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity - difficult situation, but a crucial mistake.

    1. Agreed. Good Moen's performance so far, three debatable calls delivered by AR2 (15' - goal, 19' and 33') and two by AR1 (21', 44'). One need to rewatch them in order to give a final judgement.

    2. AR1:
21' - mistake; very difficult to judge that correctly but still refereeing DOGSO
      44' - good onside

      AR2:
15' - good call to let the game go, maybe some cms, but it's impossible to catch it and in such cases you must proceed in favour of attacker
19' - similar scene to that in the 15th minute, flag this time, I would prefer a no-flag here
33' - rather good offside call

    3. 88' - Violent conduct by Hulk?

    4. Probably, in 90' he made another blatant holding...
Like Witsel, he is clearly seeking a YC to be suspended in Gent thus being able to go into the KO stage without any previous caution...

    5. Yeah... So, Moen shouldn't have hesitated to send him off with a straight RED card in this particular situation in the 88th minute.

Another try to earn a yellow card by dissent (93')...

    6. Hulk compilation:

    7. If we ignore the possible retaliation for a moment, which could be a RC, it is at least not acceptable that he escapes a caution for the hand in the opponent's face, which would be the absolute minimum.

    8. But if the referee notices that a player is looking on purpose for a card, can be a good choice not to show it.

    9. In my humble opinion, there should be no doubt about violent conduct. Clear try to kick an opponent with excessive force. One day ago - what a coincidence! - Bartosz Frankowski showed how a referee should act against such behaviour:

      https://vid.me/rlRA

If we think as UEFA want to and if we treat this try to kick an opponent as only reckless (nonsense!), then we would have also a push in the face (UB), so two MANDATORY yellow cards in one action. The result would be the same - the red card.

Sometimes, I can't understand Moen. He has a clear view and does nothing... Unfortunately, a frequent picture of Norwegian.

  5. 43' mandatory caution missed by Turpin. Embarrassing dive by Chicharito.

  6. Two wrong offsides in Barcelona in seven minutes. The second one denies a goal from home team

    1. First one is clear offside, second one I didn't watch from the line. Borderline decision.
74th minute no penalty - diving decision correct, missed YC to Suarez imo.
77th minute penalty - there is a contact but not sure to whistle a penalty.
On the other hand too much offside calls by ARs and almost all of them are correct. Only one decision is not clear (7th minute)
      These comments by 80th minute.

    2. 82nd minute penalty on favor of Roma - correct call.

  7. Great on side now from Roma!

  8. Chelsea's 0-1 reminds me on Skomina's missed foul prior to ManCity's 1-0 vs Juventus.
    Mistake for me.

Eriksson's AR2 with some good onsides as usual. The biggest challenge for the Swedish team seems to stay concentrated in a probably already decided match.

  9. Kassai should have given a penalty to Arsenal in 3' - clear push with 1 outstretched arm. The Kassai of 2011 would not have whistled it either, so somehow he is consistent.

    1. In case you're refereeing to a situation in 8' instead (it was at least 8' on my watch) when #12 ARS Giroud was clearly pushed away by his opponent, I agree with you. I have to review it however, it was not visible whether it was inside or outside. Don't recall any situation in 3' though.

    2. I followed the simulcast's commentary who said it had been 3', but very likely we mean the same situation - in 8' ;) (it was inside)

  10. Your view on Eriksson's RC against Badstuber? In case of a whistle, it has to be DOGSO of course, but was it a foul? Interesting card showing procedure btw.

    1. No foul for me. Mistake from Eriksson.

  11. Interesting decision by eriksson. Foul - advantage signalized - offside flag and why he did not whistle the foul?

  12. Brilliant onside decision prior to Arsenal's 3:0 by AR2 Toth. My compliments.

    1. For me it was offside, but I would be pleased to correct my impression from the first replay if you are right :)

@ Patrick: Could be deemed as reckless, yes, on the other hand it was a typical movement to save a ball.

    2. Unfortunately I saw only 1 replay but in this one it was onside for me. Even if it was offside, no mistake IMO, too close.

    3. Close, but offside. His body was offside.

  14. Has someone seen the missed red card to Genk goalkeeper at first half? Clear mistake!

    1. Yes, huge mistake. If I remember well score was 1-0 in that moment...

The fault is split between Karasev and AR2, but the mistake is huge.

  15. Some opinions.

    Barcelona - Roma:
Some calls by AR1 Duran were wrong, including a goal scored, as already reported. Excellent AR2 Ongun, I think he was faultless. Both given penalties are correct decisions, but there is another situation (a few time before Barça's penalty) with Suarez. In this occasion, I think that the play on by Cakir was a wrong choice. Such fall should be a penalty or dive, a contact without whistling is nosense here. So, missing YC for my taste. Furthermore, possible red card (DOGSO) for Messi, he was booked for SPA, I think that this decision can be still backed. Despite of a 6-1 final score, the match had some challenging situations.

    Maccabi - Chelsea:
I watched the red card by Undiano and I must praise his alertness. Very good decision, this kick sounds like a violent conduct, considering the position of the ball, which was quite far away.

    Arsenal - Dinamo:
Arsenal third goal is for me extremely tight offside (by head and upper body ahead), but in such situation AR must be backed.

    Lyon - Gent:
I would like to hear your opinion about the free kick leading to 1-1. This execution is regular, but one could detect an unsporting behavior by Belgian players.
