Cüneyt Çakır elected as The 3rd Team's European Referee of the Year 2015

Today we honour Turkish international referee Cüneyt Çakır as The 3rd Team's European Referee of the Year 2015 as a result of our internal votings. Italian Nicola Rizzoli and Germany's Felix Brych have been ranked as no.2 and 3 respectively, with two Englishmen just behind and a Polish talent making place 6.

Following last years' annual rankings of the world's best referees, this time we have decided to concentrate on Europe only (because of the unlucky time zones of all FIFA tournaments this year).

The criteria all voters were instructed to follow was to find a balance between achievements and performance level in 2015, specially in UEFA competitions. Though we do not claim that this is a representative ranking considering the small voters' sample size.

The complete ranking:

01. Cüneyt Çakır - Turkey - 172 points

    1. Another AR kept on the list despite of having reached the age of 45 is Bakhadyr Kochkarov (KGZ). Perhaps, he will get further matches with Irmatov, but I think it will be difficult to see him at 2018 WC.
