50 Comments:

  1. Among EURO 2016 referees we have Collum, Karasev and Moen with only one match in KO stage in both competitions. Maybe EL semifinal for them? I'm anyway quite surprised by Collum's management, it seems as he lost some credits following 2015 Super Cup.

  2. So, no experiments at this stage. All four referees were also candidates for a CL QF.
The EURO referees without a quarterfinal are Moen, Turpin, Karasev and Collum. Let's see, whether they get a EL SF instead. Moen probably yes, but I am not sure about the others.

  3. Interesting appointments,Skomona was predicted for Liverpool-Borussia Dortmund, but only Sevilla-Athletic! No chances for UEL final, only possibility for UCL semifinal

  4. Sevilla-Athletic is also une interesting match.

    1. Interesting news - why won't Bahittin Duran be replaced by Mustafa Emre Eyisoy, the official standby Assistant Referee in the "Team Cakir" for the EURO 2016?

    2. Mustafa Emre Eyisoy seems to be injured, too. In Turkey he didn't officiate at any SüperLig match since last December either ...

While UEFA has not still allowed FIFA to reveal the names of preselected officials for 2018, a seminar for AFC - CAF and OFC trios is taking place in Doha, Qatar, in these days. It will last until 15 April.

Hopefully we will get the UEFA list soon, also waiting for 2016 Olympics referees.

By the way - phenomenal atmosphere before the game :-)

  9. 15' missed penalty from Kralovec

  10. Missed blatant penalty by Kralovec, he assigned a definitely wrong corner kick, ball was never touched by defender.

    1. Now a correct penalty on the other side for Shakhtar. Foul by keeper, there was another defender behind him, so for this reason Kralovec decided for YC. Some arguments could be in favor of RC, anyway.

    2. For me more more RC than YC - nevertheless I am not sure whether the observer assess this as a crucial mistake as there are some arguments for a caution too. Anyway, in my opinion a sent-off is simplier to argue than a caution in this situation.

First situation a very clear crucial mistake - a referee on this level should see such a clear penalty, to be honest. It is a pity that it has (probably) an influence on the outcome of the tonight's result.

  11. IMO, Çakιr missed three obligatory yellow cards in the 7' (LIV, reckless tackle), 11' (LIV, SPA) and 14' (BVB, reckless foul).

    1. Another challenge worthy of YC occurred right now.

    2. And fifth YC missed in 69th minute. Really don't like such 'tactic'. Even if cards are not needed taking into account the atmosphere of the game, reckless is reckless and SPA is SPA...

    3. You are Right on the one side but on the other side he has it total under control and the game is phenomenal! I enjoy it... Also the style of refereeing

    4. I understand such argument but in my opinion an empathy for the game should not mean violating the LotG. Of course, the phenomenal game we're watching!

    5. Football is a game which should entertain... Everybody enjoys and only referees have to critisise there colleges

    6. Football has to entertain is one thing what i have learned on a referee course. "Teacher" was Markus Merk

    1. Penalty for Sevilla?

      Delete
    2. A situation a few minutes ago (106'), Sevilla wanted a penalty for handball, the scene occurred right in front of AAR1, decision was PLAY ON, I have some doubts, moreover a few seconds before the touch it looked like the ball was out of the pitch.

      Delete
    3. I think the arm was in a natural position + hit from a short distance, therefore correct decision. But I also thought the ball was out before.

At least in extra time, Skomina was very consistent with his cautions, what lead to the high number.

      Delete
    4. Ok, I rewatched the incident. Impossible to determine whether the ball was entirely out, so we must trust AR1 / AAR1.
Penalty appeal: it is correct decision to play on, absoslutely unintentional. Good management by Slovenian team.

So it's the first, that is not in Turkey. ;)

  16. Something like a riot occurred in the midfield during PSO... I never saw something like that with a referee forced to return back and leave the penalty area.

    1. Unfortunately a missed YC for No. 10 from the guests - the assistant referee positioned there was focused on making his notes and did not see the unsporting behavior.

Very good co-operation of Skomina and his 4th official in 98' (correct caution for a substitute who entered the field).

  17. Liverpool-Borussia Dortmund
Excellent performance from AR1. Six goals on his side, even four very tought situations to decide. And AR2 has one very good decision. What a night for Çakir's ARs.

    1. Good 1st half from Çakir.
I read many comments about possible penalty kick for Dortmund but i didn't saw that situatuion. At 2nd half (without situation about possible penalty kick) he missed two YCs. Because of that 8.3 or 8.2.
