  1. Uilenberg will observe Raczkowski. Another Pole knocking to the elite group.

    1. Right, so important games for Raczkowski, Bastien and Gözübüyük.
As always, Tagliavento the only Elite referee (waiting for second legs) appointed in EL for playoffs. I really can't understand why he has to be kept in this category despite of his appointmets. No explanations for that.
Soares Dias in a quite interesting game in EL after Collina's observation.

    2. For Gözübüyük, it's the first EL-play off.

I expected to see Blom or Makkelie in the first leg, because they are usually appointed together, and Blom had an full-FIFA teeam this weekend in the eredivisie. But they will probably have matches next week.

I don't understand the appointment of Tagliavento. If it was a really sonorous clash, it might be understandable, but it's 'only' Vojvodina-AZ...

@Chefren: how does Tagliavento do in Italy? Does he get interesting clashes there?

    3. In recent years, in my opinion Tagliavento has been not that good in serie A. He got some top clashes, but he never offered faultless perfornmances. A bit better in the last season, but still not the standard of an Elite referee and not the "old" Tagliavento of some years ago. To be honest, I think he has lost motivation, but I always hope that something can change. Among the "big names" in Italy (Rizzoli, Rocchi, Orsato, Banti and so on...) he is the one still without a final in his palmares (Coppa Italia / Supercoppa Italiana).

  2. Johanesson handles Rapid Wien for the third time during the last four years. :)

    1. And Vad again in Panathinaikos with a Danish team after the 2014-2015 EL P.O.

      Surely coincidence.

  3. Arsenal-Liverpool, great work of Oliver.
Chelsea-W., great mistake of Taylor not showing
2d yellow card to Diego Costa.

  4. Boško Jovanetić (SRB) replaced Jaap Uilenberg (NED) in IFK Göteborg - Qarabağ FK...

  5. Nikolai Levnikov saw a good Benoit Bastien tonight. I have some doubts about the last YC, otherwise an excellent approach and definitely on the expected level. So, 8.3-8.4 in total.

Vad's penalty and RC for DOGSO on Panathinaikos - Brondby.

    1. And here is a 2nd YC issued by Vad. Totally correct.

    2. Why RC? This was a fair attempt by keeper to catch the ball. Attacker was clever, kicking the ball away. I must say I'm astonished by such mistake. Now such fouls by keepers are codified inside the box always as YC.

The second situation is a clear YC, well done, good cooperation by AR, too.

    3. And bonus an unbelievable offside call. No comment.

    4. The only explanation for red card in first situation is that the referee judged the incident as foul by hands.

I suppose the assistant signaled a foul in attack (left hand signal, the flag seems to be waving)

    5. Foul by hands? What do you mean, Ray? A deliberate act by keeper against the attacker, without any interest in the ball? Because even if it is a foul by hand, one can easily see that keeper went for the ball.

    6. Yeah, sure, but I try to understand the referee's decision. And if there was a foul by hand/-s (catching the attacker's legs), the RC for DOGSO maybe would be an acceptable call.

  7. Very solid performance by Stefan Johanesson. I really like his style of refereeing: Very calm, an excellent dealing with players, great personality skills all in all. Tonight 1 missed YC for a reckless tackle, otherwise faultless. 8.3 imo

  8. Astra vs West Ham (Soares Dias)

Your view of this penalty, is handball?

    1. For me the attacker clearly pushes his opponent. Attacker's foul.

But, you would be the last to recognize a good decision to Artur Dias... :)
