  1. Marc Batta in München clearly indicates a Category 1 referee, in my opinion.
Artur Soares Dias is the first option...

  2. Dankert, Borsch and Lupp have a match on Monday, therefore Brych is very likely not appointed next week.

    1. Italy: Tagliavento, Rizzoli and Rocchi all additional assistant referees on Sunday. Orsato has a game on Sunday as main referee, so he surely wont appear as referee on Tuesday.
Spain: Mateu Lahoz without any game in Spain on this weekend. So very likely a CL appointment, perhaps on Tuesday.
England: Clattenburg with Manchester's derby on Saturday. Atkinson as well with a game on Saturday. Both are possible for Tuesday's games.

    2. In Russia Karasev referees a single Friday match

      Delete
    3. Also, Willie Collum has been given the Old Firm which is on a Saturday--don't be surprised if he gets a Tuesday CL fixture.

      Delete
    4. In Poland Marciniak and his AAR1 Raczkowski have matches on Sunday, so the Tuesday match in CL is less probable. Maybe Raczkowski will get something in EL.

      Delete
    5. Raczkowski in EL 1st matchday, Marciniak in CL 2nd matchday, Gil in EL 2nd matchday.

      Delete
  3. 2 english, 2 german, 2 dutch. I think this is not possible.

  4. Soares Dias has game on Sunday in Portugal .
The ARs are the same as the last international games .
    Maybe a match EL .

    1. So, difficult to see him again 48 hours after this game in Bayern - Rostov.

      Delete
    2. Only if he has Uilenberg.
But I bet in the EL game. There are good games:
      Feyenoord vs M. United
      Young Boys vs Olympiacos
      Panathinaikos vs Ajax
      Nice vs Schalke
      and others...

      Delete
    3. Indeed, perhaps another test in EL before a CL appointment, would be a good thing.

  5. Tasos Sidiropoulos has a Superleague match on Saturday. With Efthimiadis and Kostaras. That could indicate a CL match next week.

    1. Tasos Sidiropoulos has a CL match MD1.

      Assistants: Damianos Efthymiadis, Polychronis Kostaras
Additional Assistants: Charalampos Kalogeropoulos, Alexandros Aretopoulos
      Fourth Official: Lazaros Dimitriadis

      Delete
  6. Björn Kuipers has an Eredivisie appointment on Saturday... No Eredivisie appointment for Bas Nijhuis this week!!! CL match on MD1 for both them????

  7. Piotr Sadczuk (Paweł Gil's assistant referee #1 in UEFA games) is no longer a professional and FIFA referee. Zbigniew Przesmycki (head of referees) asked Zbigniew Boniek (president of Polish FA) to dissolve the contract with Sadczuk. Most likely Dawid Golis will replace him on the list.

The reason: professional referees and assistant referees in Poland make video observations of referees' performances at second and third tier. He contacted with the referee he was assessing in order to come to an agreement regarding a mark...

  8. Jonas Eriksson has a sweidish league game on monday.

    1. I wouldn't be surprised in reading the name of Eriksson for an EL game this time.

    2. Can Mark Clattenburg or Martin Atkinson get a match on MD1 among PL referees?

Among Dutchmen, Nijhuis is a certainty and probably Kuipers will get one as well this matchday...

  9. @Chefren and Niclas
Can the referee and the UEFA delegate be from the same nation?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think that basically UEFA tries to avoid that, but it is not forbidden.
For example, in Youth League we will have referee and delegate from the same nation for a game...

      Delete
    2. If UEFA avoids that for CL then that would mean no Clattenburg for Juventus v Sevilla!!!

      Delete
    3. Moen had Wolfsburg-CSKA last season with a Norwegian Delegate. So seems to be no problem.

      Delete
  10. Greek football Federation announced the appointment for sidiropoulos 13 or 14 of September with his team

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Can you please share the link??

      Delete
    2. Soham, again you don't understand. The appointment is confidential. Federation is informed about the day and the competition, but nobody knows the specific game, only the officials involved. We must wait, as always for tomorrow or Monday.

      Delete

    3. Chefren, all is evident.

      Delete
    4. Leverkusen v CSKA seems to be the ideal match for Sidiropoulous!!

      Delete
    5. I agree that this match is an option for Sidiropoulos.

      Delete
    6. We will know tomorrow whether Collina feels the same as we do!! 😀

  11. @Chefren and Niclas
Which match out of PSG v Arsenal and Juventus v Sevilla is expected to be more challenging for the referees!!! Thoughts???

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Difficult to answer, perhaps I'm trivial saying that, but everything can happen in a game. However, being forced to give an answer, I would say PSG - Arsenal.

      Delete
    2. So looks like UEFA will go for a trusted name for this game... The blog prediction of Kuipers for this game really looks a good one after his strong performance in Porto-Roma... Let's see what we finally get!!

      Delete
    3. PSG-Arsenal goes to Viktor... Kuipers gets Manchester City-Borussia Mönchenglagbach... Atkinson for PSV-Atletico Madrid...

  12. Swedish referee Martin Strömbergsson is confirmed being appointed for a chamapions league this week. From the begining he was appointment to a swedish fisrt division game(Allsvenskan) on Monday, but was then appointed to a Swedish second divison game(Superettan) on saturday. The explanation from the referee comity was that he had an champions league game.

    2) Referee does not consider reason for penalty. Correct decision?

    1. 1) Very difficult, for what I can see, not a deliberate handball. I would have allowed the goal.
      2) Penalty should be given, in my opinion that was definitely enough. But I have a doubts, despite of the fact that it looks inside the box, perhaps the first and decisive contact takes place a few outside. At any rate, for me a whistle had to follow.

      Delete
    2. Thanks, Chefren

      1) also do not see deliberate handball.
      2) I accept the decision. In England it would never whistled, in Portugal it is customary to be.

      Delete
    3. 1) Very difficult scene. I don't see a deliberate handball. Is it possible that the referee whistled something else? Foul?

      2) I would agree more with a penalty call here rather than a play on. I guess such incidents depends on the referee's general line.

      Delete
    4. Thanks, Edward

De Sousa considered handball, it was clear from the conversation with the players.
In the other situation (2) I agree with you.
