Oh My God. It's Roldan for Korea-Algeria! Busacca has definately lost it!!!!

  2. Anonymous20/6/14 13:55

but with an AR2 from Ecuador

  3. Anonymous20/6/14 14:01

I see that now, but still I don't like this appointment. It seems like Roldan is given a second chance although (part) of his team failed dramatically! You go to a WC as a team so when one of the team fails the whole team should be out for me..... Clearly Busacca has another view, but I don't like this appointment!

  4. Anonymous20/6/14 14:02

That means we could see Irmatov with somebody else :D :D

    1. I think that one mistake (even though crucial) is also excused, so we will see Kochkarov again, too. Clavijo is out because he disallowed two goals. Lupp is there, even though he allowed a offside goal. Of course, we could discuss about that, but still they didn't want to send home so early Roldàn.

  5. Well, I believe all three decisions are not the best. USA - Portugal is a really crucial game and if Pitana is the right choice remains to be seen. I can live with it.
Brych gets a very important game, ok, I would say this is a second chance.
Roldan is a big surprise, especially for this match.
Can somebody tell me why refs like Gassama and Shukralla get no chance.

    1. Anonymous20/6/14 14:13

For Alg-Korea both are with confederation neutrality rule no option! But Vera for example could have had the ALG- Korea match easily! (or maybe O leary if he wasn't appointed tomorrow) Maybe FIFA thinks the other two matches are too big for them yet (For Bel-Rus I can understand that view, and for POR-USA maybe Shukralla could have been appointed but I understand why they choose somebody else there)

  6. Please have your say about Shukralla and Gassama, I haven't explanations for that.

  7. My theory on Shukralla and Gassama: Mr Busacca does not trust them enough to appoint them for matchday 1-2. This was planned all along; they will each have one low-profile game on matchday 3, one of them being AUS-ESP.

  8. Anonymous20/6/14 14:37

I totally agree with this explanation. Shukralla and Gassama are the least experienced among acting referees from Asia and Africa respectively in this world cup. They will receive one low-profile game each on matchday 3, and certainly not expected to get appointed for any knock out stage matches. I also agree this has been planned all along. They are both still young, thus this is very good experience for them both, I expect them to return for world cup 2018 in Russia, as leading referees from Asia and Africa.

    1. Well, to be honest, I don't see this big difference between Williams and Shukralla. Williams is appointed and he can get two matches in case of good performance today, then why not Shukralla? Williams is even younger. Shukralla had a very good U20 tournament. Furthermore, I think we cant' compare him to Gassama.
If you don't trust a referee, you don't call him at WC.

  9. Shukralla handled Japan-Australia in front of 70k spectators in an excellent manner during the qualifiers. So I actually expected him as a great option for this tournament.
But we'll see. I am quite sure that both Gassama and Shukralla will get good matches on MD3 which maybe qualify them for furthert asks. Don't forget that Gassama is very young, talented, and is Africa's future. He struggled at U20 WC and in the play-off, which indicated he needs to collect experiences. FIFA could follow the strategy to allow him to do so and be then prepared as a very good referee at WC 2018.

WHAT A JOKE THESE UNQUALIFIED CRITICS ARE!!!!!!!!!!! sitting in their armchairs swilling beer thinking their opinions are important when they are totally irrelevant to the people who do know about refereeing

at best all they do is to provide some light reading and see who can provide the biggest amount of rubbish!!!!

    1. !!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS FOR FEEDBACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    2. Anonymous20/6/14 16:19

A question for you angry bird.
When all this is totally not important, light reading, rubbish. Why are you here? Why have you wasted time to writing this comment? Why do you even lose a word about irrelevant work? I'm excited over your replies...

    3. Anonymous20/6/14 16:47

It was not feedback - just the truth!!

    4. I don't drink beer. But maybe you did. I echo anonymous' words. Why are you still here? Ok, then, !!! THANKS FOR THE TRUTH !!!

    5. And what makes you a qualified critic of our unqualified criticism? Could I criticise your criticism of our criticism, or am I not qualified for that?

    6. Somebody must tell that truthman, all that fifa referees and even committe members are following this blog..

  11. OT: Why is the Brych report not online (anymore)? His average mark is already there...

    1. Anonymous20/6/14 16:28

    2. Reports are uploaded.

  12. Where can I find an explanation for what the marks (8.1 etc.) means? Thanks.

    1. Anonymous20/6/14 17:16

8.0-8.1: satisfactory but important rooms for improvement, means a practically poor performance without loss of control and without crucial mistake.
You can read it in all reports too.

    2. This comment has been removed by the author.

    3. But where can I find the full list?

    4. Look at one report from CL/EL; it's all there. Here's what I copied:
      Evaluation Scale
      9.0 – 10.0 Excellent.
      8.5 – 8.9 Very good. Important decision(s) correctly taken.
      8.3 – 8.4 Really good. Expected level.
8.2 Satisfactory with small areas for improvement.
8.0 – 8.1 Satisfactory with important areas for improvement.
7.9 One clear and important mistake, otherwise 8.3 or above.
7.8 One clear and important mistake, otherwise 8.0 – 8.2.
7.5 – 7.7 Below expectation, poor control, significant point(s) for improvement.
7.0 – 7.4 Disappointing. Below expectation with one clear and important mistake or a performance with two or more clear and important mistakes.
      6.0 – 6.9 Unacceptable.

  13. Could it be possible, that Gassama and Shukralla had problems during the preparation days in Rio? Either fitness problems or maybe bad performances in theoretical tests. And therefore FIFA decided to use them only as reserve referees?

BTW, I am curious about the appointments on MD3, I tried to make them and did not manage to get a satisfying solution... At least if no more groups are already decided.

    1. All the referees didn't get a match 2010 either.

  14. Anonymous20/6/14 18:48

Peter, what is the URL for the pdf document with these appointments?

    1. Anonymous21/6/14 17:09

Can anyone please post the URL for this pdf?

  15. Anonymous20/6/14 18:54

Niclas & Carlos: who are the referee observers for the WC matches?

  16. Anonymous21/6/14 02:00

The FIFA pdf of each game ''line ups'' is listing teams and match commissioners (Delegate) and General Co-ordinators (Venue Directors / Match Managers) it is not, unusually, listing Referee Observers. Does this mean all games are being assessed by committee at central hotel, or also at games?
