  1. Congratulations! A very deserved appointment. Collum was a very safe pair of hands during the last season.

I think Pedro Proenca or Collina will observe Collum

  3. Anonymous7/7/15 13:01

Appointment made by Hugh Dallas :)

  4. Congrats to Collum

  5. Wait, that's not his regular team, is it?

    1. It is, with the exception of Francis Connor as AR2 instead of Graham Chambers. I am quite sure that this team will be chosen for France 2016, the main question would be whether Connor will be the AR2 as he is younger than Chambers (1971), or whether this is a test / monitoring as Connor could be Collum's 3rd standby AR who steps in if one of AR1 or 2 get injured. We'll see.

    2. Anonymous7/7/15 22:05

Frankie will Willie's AR2 going forward, they were together in the Iceland v Czech Rep Euro qualifier in June. Chambers or Alastair Mather will be the 4th Official in the team depending on whether Chambers forms part of Craig Thomson's european team.

    3. Do you know why they focus on Francis Connor from now on?

    4. Anonymous8/7/15 20:11

He's performing really well and as you say much younger than Chambers so in the long run maybe a better option. Chambers had a few blips in performance this year as well domestically.

  6. Good appointment! I didn't expect him in this match, but surely it is a signal that his season was well evaluated by committee and the (still quite young) Scottish referee has big chances for Euro 2016.
Other possible names were Mazic or Rizzoli, but a country like Scotland is finally rewarded after several problems with referees at high level (especially assistant referees).

  7. Anonymous7/7/15 20:35

Collum is not one good referee.
But he is protected by Dallas, I think.

    1. Anonymous8/7/15 18:00

My opinion too. I saw him only once (Austria-Brazil) but this was one of the badest referees I have ever seen on this level.

    2. Anonymous9/7/15 21:57

Thats right. Collum is protected by dallas! He is not a top referee!

    3. Anonymous9/7/15 22:03

Tell me why he is not a top referee.

  8. Anonymous7/7/15 20:42

I think Collum is a good ref. Interesting to see Paniashvili as observer. He apparantely is a more important and trusted observer nowadays, because I can't believe they took the easy option and appointed a local observer.

    /Swedish observer

    1. They did so with McVicar last time, too (English ref team, Scottish observer, Welsh venue).
I guess it is indeed only due to the location.

  9. Honestly I was not expecting Collum for this appointment. From 21 elite officials, I had removed spanish ones, who has already officiated Super Cup final (Kuipers, Skomina, Eriksson; Clattemburg), Champions league final (Cakir, Rizzoli, Kassai, Kuipers), Europe League final (Brych, Kuipers, Rizzoli, Atkinson), low performes (Tagliavento, Thomson), new comer (Aytekin) so 5 referees remain: Rocchi, Collum, Moen, Mazic, Kralovec. My guess was Mazic with Rocchi as forth official or in case Mazic would be preserved for next CL final, MOEN should have been done my candidate, or Kralovec in third position.
I don't know if it is so deserved,
Seriously, Who do you think forced for this appointment ? Villar Llona ? Collina ? Dallas and Batta ?
Why IV official is not one elite referee, like at CL or EL final ?

    1. Anonymous8/7/15 14:04

and why do you feel Moen or Kralovec deserve the appointment more than William. Seeing as you are not in a position where you have each report & mark for each referee you aren't in a position to know whether it is deserved or not. But what I do know is William's marks are extremely high and his performances have been consistently high also.

    2. To be honest, Moen did not convince me in any of his UEFA knockout matches last season. Collum made an important step in his career and seems to have arrived at a position which is something higher than just being "a talent".

    3. Sorry, maybe I have been misunderstood. I didn't want to make any polemic assessment. I followed Collum, Kralovec and Moen on K.O. stage last months and form my point of view Collum didin't perfom so well. Kralovec and Moen better. But it's just my opinion, if you anonymous (2.04 p.m) have the marks and if they are very high, that's it and I accept.
When I wrote "who do you think force for this....." I dind't want to make any polemic statement but only ask you a clarification on how the appointment happened. Are they come form Collina him self ? Does the commetee meet together in Nyon and decide all together ? In this case Villar Llona take part of appointment ?
