  1. OT
Some speculations report that this Women U19 game was not played because many players from Scotland were drunk.
However, Scottish federation has deny that, stating that these players were only ill.
UEFA will very likely assign a 3-0 to Serbia.

  2. OT:

Tonight for the very first time the Video Assistant Referee was used during an official match in the Netherlands. VAR Pol van Boekel corrected Danny Makkelie, which lead to a (correct) straight red card in a situation in which Makkelie could never see the impact of the foul.

    1. Here is a link to the video clip of the above mentioned situation.

    2. The only problem is the time of decision. They spend many seconds ...
As they would if the game already in progress?

    3. The referee simply doesn't allow the restart as soon as the VAR informs him he is going to rewatch the situation.

  3. Imagine a goal disallowed for offside, where the defending team scores immediately free. How do you decide the referee?

(Here, in Portugal, there are tests, but offline for now)

    1. Imagine a goal disallowed for offside (mistaken)... sure!

  4. Difficult situation for the referee to see the foul clearly. I have to say, after the first replay I thought why a straight RC? But after having seen the other replays I am convinced that the correct decision was taken. Good for the Dutch that they are heading with this project.

  5. OT:What do you think about this challenge from Suarez? Maybe more than yc?

    1. Borderline for me. Definitely orange. A bit higher and another hitting point and he has to go for sure (compare it with Irmatov's red card in Croatia-Mexico:

He "only" hit the foot from the front - excessive force for sure, clearly endangering the safety of the oppoent so-so, in my opinion.

  6. Stefan Johannesson and Daniel Wärnmark, respectively Eriksson's AAR1 and AR2, have been appointed for a game in Swedish domestic league on Monday:
This means that Eriksson is not appointed for Tuesday's CL games. Perhaps he will get a game on Wednesday, but more likely, I'm quite convinced, he could be in EL on Thursday.

  7. Some videos of the FIFA meeting in Zurich for preselected officials can be found here:
the last was published about 1 hour ago, scroll down and you will find another one on 20 September.

  8. OT: The belgian FA announced today the international retirement of Serge Gumienny in 2017. His place on the FIFA list will be taken by Lawrence Visser (26 yo).

  9. OT: Frank Schneider with a very good call in yesterday's Toulouse-PSG game.

Small LotG question: Imagine it had been a clear goal-scoring opportunity and also imagine the attacker held by his opponent had been offside at the moment of the pass - what would be the correct decision?

    1. I think in that case offside should be sanctioned. The attacker would get a benefit by his irregular position.

    2. Penalty + YC.

The attacker did not interfere with play in sense of LOTG, so the offside position could not be punished, but it wasn't a DOGSO neither as the goal would be disallowed. So only an unsporting behavior in my opinion. Like a handball on the goal line after a direkt throw-in, for example.

    3. The question is, what would be if there is no foul? I don't think that it would be an offside position to punish (if he would not reach the ball).

    4. Gitzlo is right. Even if we imagine that it was a punishable offside offence with a holding occurring at the same time and denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity, a penalty + YC has to be given as the stronger offence has to be punished (the holding). It cannot be a red card as the attacker would have been flagged offside if there had been no foul (so no DOGSO...).

On your 2nd question, gitzlo: Maybe one could punish him for trying to play the ball which is rather equivalent to interfering with play for UEFA.

  10. Three situations from the yesterday's Wisła Kraków - Legia Warszawa game referee'd by Paweł Gil:

    1. 1) This tackle is more than reckless. For me, SFP and RC. I can hardly accept YC, I consider it not enough.
      2) Penalty for deliberate handball, the intention of defender is in my opinion clear.
      3) No penalty: defender tries to avoid the contact with ball, trying to put his arm in a natural position, close to body.

  11. Hamburg-Bayern: Penalty against Lewandosky.............
