  1. Markus Hameter with a committee member.

    1. Surprising. FIFA since 2012, still in the last category. Last season with some good marks and nevertheless not promoted, furthermore he is the first candidate in Austria to leave the FIFA list (and there are some talents who could replace him without any doubts). I'm really surprised by this appointment.

    2. A quite challenging game for Hameter: two penalties, one straight red card.
Hopefully he got everything right in front of a committee member...

  2. Your appointment for Sturm-Podgorica is wrong, here is the correct one:

    Referee: Mattias Gestranius (FIN)
Assistant referees: Jan-Peter Aravirta (FIN), Ville Koskiniemi (FIN)
    Fourth official: Dennis Antamo (FIN)

    1. So, this change confirms that Ivanov and Vilkov are not longer FIFA referees...

    2. It should be related to his demotion in Russia, the appointment has been then changed.

    1. There isn't a specific day planned for the appointment, however I think in the next days we should know the name. One year ago, Mazic was announced on 20 July, two years ago Collum on 7 July.

  4. How do you see Martinez and Irrati's appointment?
They may be the future for their respective countries to my mind.

  7. Under 19 semifinals:

POR - NED Mads-Kristoffer Kristoffersen (DEN)
ENG - CZE Davide Massa (ITA)

    Srdjan Jovanović for the final?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Ola Hobber Nilsen (NOR) is fourth official in a semifinal, so he should be out from the candidates, Ali Palabiyik (TUR) had this controversial situation in his game.
So, either the Serbian or Sergey Lapochkin. The latter had a very challenging game (Germany - Bulgaria) also reported on the blog, I would say some decisione were correctly taken, but there were other situations.
In a overall context, I think that this could be not enough for the final.

I didn't watch the Serbian to say something about him...

      Delete
    2. Having watched both Massa's performances, I was sure he'll get the final. Now, I start to think that Palabiyik has been pencilled in for the final even before the tournament...

  9. Francois Letexier's second UEL qualifying match in seven days... Can anyone who follow French refereeing tell me something more about him. Looks like big and young talent?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I've seen Letexier for the first time when he still used to be a referee in the second French division, where he has been undoubtedly a huge talent. He was promoted Ligue 1 in January 2016, before joining the FIFA list in January 2017. Nevertheless, his 2016/2017 season (which was his first in Ligue 1) was from my point of view relatively poor. Looking back how Letexier is treated inside the French Refereeing Committee, I would compare it to Turpin's treatment inside UEFA in his first season as an Elite referee. He is sent into clashes which need quite some experience, for instance like PSG-Lille or Metz-Nancy (one of the hottest derbies in France, because the two cities are 50km away and can't stand each other): for the latter match, this was crucial for the outcome of the season (concerning relegation) and there were several obvious red cards missed. Letexier - being 28 years old only - will need one or two seasons more of experience and then he should be capable of handling hotter clashes.

All in all: Letexier is a name to keep an eye on, he is probably the only referee on the FIFA list alongside Benoît Bastien who has some real chances to reach the Elite group soon.

  11. Vadims Diroktenko and Robert Malek with their first match as Referee Observer, can someone publish the new list of Observers 2017-19?

  12. 2nd leg:
Lech Posen (POL) - FK Haugesund (NOR)
Alexander HARKAM (AUT) - AR1 Witschnigg, AR2 Steinacher, 4OFF Grobelnik.

  13. Kristoffersen seems to be another Moen... Good rapport with players (smiling, talking) and good positioning on the one hand and really passive approach, no reaction on clear fouls, missed cards on the second hand. Soft skills is not everything, you need to apply the laws of the game in the sufficient way, too!

  14. OT

Well, according to RFEF-CTA, Mateu Lahoz and Del Cerro Grande have been appointed for WC Qualifier matches on 1st September, and David Fernández Borbalán on the 2nd. Of course, the exact match is unknown.

  16. Meanwhile in Tallinn, Kalju vs Videoton, referee Joao Capela got injured and was replaced by the 4th official Luís Godinho on the 30th minute or so.

    1. Oh, another injury of Joao Capela. He wasn't classified last season in the ranking of Primeira Liga referees.

  17. Very good job by Al-Hakim in Hajduk-Levski.
    Correct penalty and 5 YC's.
He easily punished dissent by Levski's players.

Was this holding enough for a whistle? Can we discuss about a potential simulation? However, once whistled, RC is absolutely correct.

    1. Which foult Was the first ? The leg or the hand. IMO the leg so he had chance that he play the Pál so IMO This is a crucial mistake. After This situation he had a very Poor performance with a lot if cards. He missed a lot of foul. He had a lot of problems with the players. They didnt respect him after the first penalty situation.

      Delete
    2. About the legs, I don't spot any contact, and in case, as you said, it should have been assessed as genuine attempt to play the ball, so YC.
I think the holding was punished...

      Delete
    3. Mark is right, I see as well a small contact on the legs, which would clearly support a caution, since it is a genuine attempt to play the ball. But I think that the holding takes place quite simultaneously and then he can give a red card. It is for my taste a soft decision, but not wrong. Concerning YC or RC, I think that Schärer's decision can be supported, very likely the holding was easier to detect than the contact on the legs.
